Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie?

Apparently, they've released the teaser poster and a short trailer for the new TMNT movie, which is to be released in 2007. I'm not too sure about anything else.

I'm excited; I like the series, however lame the movies might have been in the past.

How about everyone else?

I remember watching the cartoon when I was little, and the movies werent too bad (given when they were made) so I can just imangine how this one will be. I cant wait!!

I can't wait XP I've always love the TMNT ever since i was like 4. And I still like the old movies, I can't wait to see what they're gonna do with this one.

CGI animation probably... Not too sure; set to go to theatres March '07.

Hmm...I don't know; if it's like the current cartoon I probably won't like it. I watched them as a kid, but in those times the scenes were longer and there seemed more character development in the episodes...or at least more personality rather than just fighting. Then again, I've only seen a few episodes of the newer cartoon--it just jumps from scene to scene too much for my taste. Movie might be kewl to see though just for old times sake. ^_^

It's not suposed to be based on ANY of the cartoons. It's supposed to be based on the old comic books (which in turn, is what the cartoons were based on, though highly toned down for kids). Believe it or not (and I didn't find this out myself until I was older, and I'm someone who grew up watching the Ninja Turtles) the Ninja Turtles originally weren't for children at all. They were made by some comic company called Image or something. They were really violent and harsh. I remember reading one and the Turtel were cutting up and killing gangsters with their weapons, it showed Shredder's origin, having him all cut up and having to don a samurai mask to hide his scars, and the footsoldiers weren't robots (meaning when the turtles killed them, their blood and guts would spill). There was also a stronger focus on the ways of the ninja and Japanese culture. The Ninjas all had their same personalities except they were all way more extreme (Leonardo was extremely focused and spiritual, Michelangelo was really rude and sarcastic, Donatello was classy and articulant and sometimes had somewhat of a superiorty complex, and Raphael was just brutal and killhappy. They say this movies is supposed to follow the original comics storywise and stylewise, so I have no idea they are using the new Ninja Turtle logo from that new turtles cartoon my cousin watches (I guess to take advantage of it's popularity, probably a studio move. I also don't know why they say it's going to be rated PG, if it were really like the old comics it'd be rated R. They do say it's going to be as gritty as the old comics, so it might be good.

BTW, the original comics that this movie is based on were really heavy in Japanese culture (even moreso than the cartoons and live-action movies). The comic itself was even written and styled similar to manga with the same effects and storytelling styles, it was even in black and white. And to the guy who asked whether it's going to be live-action or 3D, the whole movies going to be CG (I guess to avoid being mistaken for a sequel of the old live-action movies. They also didn't wan to animate it like a cartoon so it wouldn't be mistaken as a connection to any of the cartoons, but they still wanted to animate it somehow to bring back that old comicbook feel, so they made it CG.

Think of it like the 'Batman Begins' of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it's going to be based on the original source material, with no connection to any previous Ninja Turtles cartoons or movies (except the original comics it's based on).

Yeah, it's based on the comics, but somehow they managed to get a PG rating. Probably since it's all GC. They say despite the PG rating it's going to have the grittieness of the comics, and that it'l gonna be way more gritty than any of the cartoons and movies of the past. This is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that most people never saw, or knew existed for that matter.

And to the poster above, I don't know why you got bad repped, I sure as heck didn't give it to ya.

I really liked the old movies, they are pretty funny XD
Thinking about when they were made they are quite impressive.

I remember I went over to the neighbour when I was little, around 7 in the morning, just to watch the Turttles cartoons (we didn't have the channel).
I have a lot of those old action figures and comics lying around in the house somewhere.

But I dunno about this movie... I don't think it will be any good, but hopefully I'm wrong.
Why do I think so? Because it's CG (I do think it will look impressive though) and the plot summary that IMDB has put up sounds quite idiotic.
It's not based on the old comics if this plot summary is correct.
It's prob based on the new tv series that started some years ago.

Whoa.There's a movie of Ninja Turtles coming up? I'm starting to get excited too.

I loved the cartoon series when i was a kid, though i can't really remember too much of it now.

I don't know much of the plot-base, but i'll still watch it for old-times sake. With such modern technology, we can at least expect the CGs to be something worth looking at.

Man oh man ... The Shredder gets killed early on in the comic wonder if it's the same here? I hope they keep him around .. I used to love the Shredder as a kid and it distressed me greatly when he would lose

Who cares though .. the comic was so awesome and mature.. I hope the movie is too.

Jesse, I'd like to know where you got that info from cos quite frankly I read the comics and they weren't like you described at all. And hon, I'm old enough to remember.

I loved all of TMNTs incarnations. And as long as it has my favourite Turtle heros I'll see it.

Shredder was awesome..i remember when they were still called Teenage Mutanta Hero Turtles, that really old cartoon series..i could probably find an old video if an episode somewhere.
