"Woohoo yahay waha she finally updated!". That may or may not be what you're thinking. But I'll tell you this: this chapter bored the life out of me, and the only thing that kept me going was your supportive comments. For that, I'd like to thank everyone who's commented on my fanfiction so far, and I'd like to dedicate this chapter to a member who's been with me since the start, cool_tria_anime. Thanks a lot girl, your support means a lot to me.

Chapter three
There was a knock on the sliding, paper door that separated Gaara's room from the rest of the house. He looked up from folding his clothes.
"Come in." he said bluntly, and the door slid open.
"Hey! Dinner's ready." ______ said, smiling slightly as she looked at him.
"I see."
He got up, and followed her into the main room of the house. She sat down in front of a bowl of steaming soup, and looked up at him expectantly. Feeling slightly nervous for some reason, he sat down at the other end of the table, and looked at her, wondering what on earth to do next.
She, however, seemed satisfied, and grinned.
"Idatakimatsu!" (AN: Could someone please tell me how to spell that?)
She picked up her chopsticks and started to eat.

______ watched as Gaara looked down into his bowl.
He had changed into something more comfortable, which happened to be a baggy white shirt and his usual brown trousers. She thought, grinning slightly, that he looked very cute.
She watched him as he carefully took his chopsticks and picked up a bit of food. Looking slightly determined, for some reason, he slowly brought the food up, and put it in his mouth. Then, still with that same determined face, he chewed.
It was such a comical scene that ______ couldn't help herself. She burst out laughing.
Gaara's eyes widened slightly in shock at the sound. This made her laugh even harder, as he stared at her clutching her stomach.
"S... sorry!" she choked out, gasping for air. He blinked.
The laughing subsided, leaving ______ blushing slightly.
"I'm so sorry Gaara-sama! I didn't mean to, it's just... your face..." she grinned.
Gaara stared at her. So much for getting things right. He was pretty sure people didn't normally burst out laughing when they ate.
There was an uncomfortable silence.
"Well... do you like it?" ______ asked, indicating to his food. He looked down at it, and nodded slightly.
"Great!"
They finished dinner, ______ chatting amiably, and Gaara felt happy for the first time in his life. She wasn't afraid of him. And... she never had been.

"Goodnight Gaara." ______ said, smiling sleepily as she made her way to her room.
He said nothing for a moment, then, almost unsurely, "Goodnight."
_____ smiled with her back to him. He was learning, and no matter what anyone said, she didn't think he was a monster. Now she just had to know.

Gaara watched her go into her room and shut the door. He got up, and went back to his room.
He finished unpacking, then opened the window, and climbed out onto the roof. Settling himself on the hard tiles, he leaned back and looked up at the twinkling stars.

______ woke up the next morning, feeling refreshed. Her mind flitting immediately to her "guest", she got up, hurried to get dressed, and went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
Though she was a ninja, ______ was a relatively good cook. She finished preparing a bowl of rice for the both of them, and carefully took it to Gaara's room.
She knocked tentatively on the door.
*I hope he's awake...*
The door opened, revealing a very awake-looking Gaara. He looked at the bowl of rice in her hand.
"Good morning Gaara!" she said with a smile. "I made breakfast for you!"
This was not something Gaara was used to. He and Kankuro had to fend for themselves in their house; even he wouldn't dare ask Temari to cook for him. Having breakfast made for him was a novel experience. He didn't quite know what to say.
"..."
She stared at him, her eyes taking in every detail of his unsure face.
"Um... well... if you don't want it, I can get you something else-"
"No. Thank you." he said, taking the bowl from her gently.
Their eyes locked. They stared at each other for a few, long moments.
The blush rose in ______'s face, and she looked away quickly.
"Well, once you've finished, I have to take you to meet Tsunade-sama and your siblings. I'm going to change, so I'll see you in a while."
She bowed slightly, and walked away, feeling ruffled.
Why on earth did his eyes capture her like that?

Gaara stared blankly around his room, his empty bowl resting on the bedside table. He guessed ______ must be a slow dresser, because he had finished breakfast and been waiting for half an hour.
She finally came into his room, pulling her hair up out of her eyes.
"Ok, ready."
He smiled inwardly, but his face remained blank.
The two of them left the house, and walked down the street in the crisp morning air.
"Sleep well?" she asked, glancing at him. He continued to walk, as though he had not heard her. Just when she thought he wasn't going to answer, he spoke.
"I don't sleep."
"What?!" she cried, shocked. How could someone not sleep?
"I don't sleep." he repeated, and somehow she knew that the subject was closed, for now.
"Mm, ok." she said, and they walked the rest of the way to the Hokage's office in silence.
When they arrived, Tsunade came forward to meet them, followed by Temari, Kankuro, Nara Shikamaru, and Akimichi Chouji.
"Ah, you two have finally arrived!" Tsunade said testily. Temari looked furious, and Shikamaru stared up at the sky. _______ knew he was Temari's escort.
*Poor guy* she thought to herself. She had thought Temari looked beautiful and patient when they had met in Tsunade's office, but the way she was glaring at them put an end to that theory. The thought of the lazy Nara escorting her around was rather amusing, but she suppressed the smile that threatened to show on her lips. Instead, she bowed to the Hokage and apologised.
"Gomen asai, Tsunade-sama." she said softly, ashamed.
Tsunade's expression softened at her niece's sincerity.
"No matter, however I expect you to be more punctual in future."
"Yes, Tsunade-sama."
The Hokage nodded brusquely, and turned to Gaara.
"Yesterday we discussed what our course of action would be. The Mist's invasion attempt is imminent, and we although we have a greater fighting power, we cannot afford to be caught off-guard. So," she said, looking around at the rest of the group, "the Kazekage and I have decided that we will send a group of Shinobi to spy on the movements of the Mist."
That group will consist of you six. Gaara are I have agreed that you shall set this afternoon, as soon as you have collected your provisions. Good luck."

Tehe, now for some free-talk! And exuses...
Ok, well, I spent a while formatting this so that Lord Ai would be pleased with me... I think that's what she meant by blanks, so hopefully it won't be so annoying to read now. Sorry about that before Ai, I hope I fixed it.
Oh yeah, you'll all be pleased to hear that I've started a HanatarouOC fic (yes, OC, not self-insert)... *cowers from rabid Gaara fans*. To tell you the truth, this chapter bored me to death, like I said previously. Now that they can get out of the village and do some FIGHTING it will be more interesting. I just lost interest writing this chapter, so yeah, that's why it took so long to update.
And the picture up the top... isn't he sexy? I really, really want to cosplay him.
So, tell me what you think... just don't kill me, ok, or I won't be able to update.
