You clinch your controller tightly,
Staring that stupid dinosaur in the face,
He must be crazy to mess with you!
Well, it’s about time that he learned his place.
The princess is in another castle,
The kingdom…still in complete gloom,
I guess you’ll have to go bust up some more bricks,
Thank goodness for those mushrooms!
Looks like your home village just burned down,
And wouldn’t you know it, you have amnesia!
I suggest that you remember how to use that sword,
Hey, open your eyes! No time to be bored!
Some old dude stole away your chick!
Time to take to your trusty stead,
Pull out that boomerang, young man,
You are our hero, indeed.
Metroids are on the loose,
Can’t a girl get some beauty rest!
Put on your best battle suit,
This will be the ultimate test.
Your father is the embodiment of destruction,
Whoa, how the heck did that happen!
Stop whining about Blitzball,
You have to be a man…answer the call.
Monkeys, monkeys, everywhere!
Holy crap, what can we do?
Depend on the kid with the spiky hair,
And hope for the best.
The streets are mean, my friend,
It’s time for you to put in work.
Leave the strippers alone,
There are crooked cops on alert!
Yeah, get your game on, dude!
Defeat the final boss! Don’t stray.
When there is no other way to escape reality,
All you can do is play.

Anyone who plays video games a lot will easily be able to see that this is a poem about video games. Each stanza refers to a different game, genre, or franchise. Can you figure out which games I'm refering to?
