Well, it really depends on the situation. If they're in a situation where it will affect them financially or business wise, yes, it's better to be mature. If it's a group of friends having fun, being too mature and serious, can lead to boredom.
It depends..
If Im around with friends..Then Im Random...idiotic...the wierd person out of everyone else..
But Im always mature. It's just friends that makes me like an idiot. lol

I switch gears really quick. I'll trash my friends apart for being shallow and shortsighted and then...do the same thing in joking wise. For example.
Friend: Look at the (removed) on that chick!
Me: Ugh, I can't believe you. Making such lewd observations without thinking of the consequences. Have you no shame? It's thinking like your's that sends us back into the stone age. I swear, I wonder why I hang out with you sometimes...

around my family and in public (without my friends around) i act mature. but my whole other side is with my friends. I'm random psycho, crazy, idiotic, and will talk about one thing and then real quickly start talking about something else

Ehh. In my opinion, it's cool to be mature, but act immature as a joke.
However, the problem manifests itself when immature people think they're mature. Those persons you should instigate violent acts upon.

I believe being maturewill get you farther in life for job wise and meeting new people wise.. but there is the odd time when it is good to joke around and be immature amongst family and friends... I would have to go with being Mature as in being a better choice to go.

um...I think being mature sometimes gets you a good reputation. but if you are just hanging with your friends its okay to be immature

Anyways, you can be mature about things, just don't shove it down people's throats. You can't be mature all the time. Sometimes it's good to act like an idiot. Taking yourself too seriously ends up backfiring most of the time.

Depends. If you are 6 years old and thinking about when will your true love come, and who will pay the bills then no. Or if you are 45 and out partying and still live at your parents and belong in pre-k then no. In my case I can be mature when the time is right, but crazy and immature when I want. Life's too short to be seriouse every second. I think a balance is good.

Anyways, in answer to the thread...
It depends; it's never good to act like an old grandpa. However, being mature at any age is great. I know fifty year-olds who act like silly eleven year-olds. I also know people who are young, but have maturity.
Being logical and responsible -two signs of maturity- will earn the respect of your peers, and you will be taken more seriously. People will give your opinion more consideration, and your employer will appreciate having someone who acts serious in the work place. Having fun isn't necessarily immature at all.
It's better to just leave the poor thing alone; she's not going to listen to anyone. All she'll do is continue to spout her self pity in every thread she gets the chance, and plague each of her own posts with excessive ellipsis and question marks.
If she wants to live in her own little world where up is down and down is up, why not let her ^_^
As for the topic at hand, I feel life is a series of scales. One of the scales is Maturity and Immaturity. If we don’t have balance on that scale, the world becomes a boring mundane place to live. If everyone were immature, nothing would ever be accomplished and people would all rather play than work. This isn’t good as technology would never progress, which would result in humanities progress to stop.
However, if everyone were Mature, then who would they frown upon, themselves? Mature people need immature people. If they didn’t have immature people, then there’s no one to make them look good.
At least, that’s how I see it.
But in short…Both.
