About DVDs

Can anyone who knows a lot about computers help me with something?

I was wondering if anybody knew how to copy Video files from a DVD and put them on the computer, because I'm thinking about making AMVs but i can't do it if I can't get these damned video clips from my DVDs

so, someone, if you can, please help!!
