Well from what I have seen from others posts are that downloading doesnt bring money to the anime company so if people become too dependable on downloading then who would buy anime from shops? The anime company would collapse and might not be able to provide us any anime.

It's illegal. Plain and simple.

People spend a lot of time and money to create the anime that you like so much. When you watch it on TV, the money from the advertisers is going to the syndication rights for the show. When you buy DVD's, that money goes to the publishers, and in turn, they continue to publish more anime, paying the creators more money.

When you download it, you are not helping the industry. You are just adding to the problem. You don't pay them, then everyone stops paying for anime, and the creators see there's no money in it, and they stop making it.

Then where would you be? Would you like to be responsible for the downfall of the entire anime industry?

well were i am they dont sell anime so the only way i can get it is by downloading it but Regex thanks for your coment in a way it does help but im more or less just trying 2 find out what other people think of it

but, its not that much of a big deal even though i dont download anime...
i just think everyone has different opinions...

thanks inuyasha well 2 b honest i work at an internet caff so all i can do is download but all da anime i have i have coppied off dvds that iv hired 4 da nite or my friends but thanks

I download a lot. If I find a series I like, I will watch it. And if I like it, I make sure to buy it when it is available in my country. Its a bit of a moral code amongst older downloaders I guess, and I don't meet many people who stick to that promise anymore. It use to be that in all fansubs the fansubbers would put in "Please purchase this series when it is available to you". I realized the damage it could cause to the industry. I buy what I am able to.

No matter what, illegal downloads will happen. No point in hating it. They make enough money and I could care less about an anime company's budget or payroll. So keep downloading and have fun, kids!

Just because other people are bad people doesn't mean you should join in. Support a starving artist, people. If you were the one creating the stuff, you'd want to be able to make a living, wouldn't you?

And again, it's illegal. You can get fined a great deal for downloading illegally.

Well in Australia, we are stuck with the awful position of being Region 4, one of the most neglected regions of them all. I admit I download anime, but only if the series hasn’t been licensed in Australia yet.

For example I download episodes of the Ranma ½ TV series, with a clean conscience, as they were never released in Australia. Although the OVA and Movies were licensed, the company that distributed them went under years ago. Although Madman has released the movies, once they release the TV series, I will personally delete those episodes once I procure them on DVD.

The only time I think downloading anime is legitimate is when it is a title that is not locally released in your country, why should I have to pay double the price for titles, waiting upwards of a month for them to ship simply because I live in a crappy region number?

I have downloaded some things, like Sailor Moon StarS which I simply couldn't find (and I'd buy it if I could! <3 ) and the Wish (by CLAMP) animation, which was super-limited release and simply not advailable anymore anywhere...
