i think that the bloodiest animes are Elfen Lied,Blue Gender,Hellsing,Ninja Scroll,and others that aren't coming in my mind now...

The one's I can think of are: Beserk, Rurouni Kenshin, and Bleach!

Well, to start with the 80's, i'll say Hokuto no Ken. Well, sometimes the bloods were incandescent white, but there was a lot of gore, though.
Animatrix had some pretty artistic bleeds, except for "The second renaissance" part I and II, wich were very ghastly.
Baoh, that was somehing nasty.
Ghost in the Shell wasn't very violent cuz all the dismembrations happen to robots and ppl with robotic implants. To me it's a pretty dark thing that everybody is a robot, it sorta... disgusts me.
Lamu - lol, that's not a violent anime, but there's all the times when Ataru gets kicked in the face by the ladies, and getting those nose bleeds every time he looks at sexy new ladies.

Erm..I think the bloodiest animes I've seen are Rurouni Kenshin, Hellsing, Blood the Last vampire, and perhaps X /1999.

Fist of the North Star has awfully large kill counts. I mean, every couple of episodes Kenshin single-handly destroys a army of bandits with his Sacred Art of Delayed Head-Explodey. Not to mention the kill counts obtained by Nanto Seiken guys, or the bandits themselves.

Yeah it has blood, but the show is unwatchable so it really makes no difference.

I tell you, It really is watchable in the same way horrible Sci-fi films are. It has all the worst aspects of 80's action anime, so overblown It's funny. In fact, based on the references I see in other anime, I'd say that the Japanese view it the same way as me.

well lets see here.. there were the Kenshin OVA's (since the series itself showed little bloodshed unless it was Himura's own), Berserk, Blue Gender, Ninja Scroll, Hellsing, Elfen Lied, Bleach, Blood: The Last Vampire, I might add Tenjo Tenge to my list after I've seen more of it to decide on the matter (as I've seen bloodshed but not a terribly large amount), and tehres one more I cant name at this point... I'll get back on that one...

Oh yes! I remember the last ones I was forgtting now... the anime X ... Ask Myrra, she knows more about it, but from what I've seen its a lot of blood, guts and gore. the Ghost in the Shell movie was pretty bloody too yet.... and jewel2sparkle? Samurai X is the english name for Rurouni Kenshin, just in case you didnt know....
