Thunder or Lightning

Which scares you the most during a storm? The sound of thunder or the flash of lightning. For me its lightning, mainly because thats the one that can hurt ya, lol, the only thing thunder does is make my ears ring a bit.

it has the scariest sound that makes me want to just cuddle up next to HIM to make me feel safe!

Neither really scares me, but I suppose lightning make me more uncomfortable, due to the fact it could kill me.

I like both thunder and lightning, I think it's tight!!! But here are the facts, people should be more afraid of lightning than thunder.

Thunder: Usually caused by Lightning bolts that bring quick large amounts of heat to an area in the sky causing the outburst of sound that we call Thunder.

Lightning: Superheated plasma that causes thunder, and it is attracted to metal objects and etc. We have a higher chance of being struck by lightning than the sound of thunder.

Yet, I like the combo.

i actually love the rain but if i had to choose id pick lighting since you can see if and you know that it can hit, thunder is just noisy, plus like the saying goes seeing is believing

I absolutely LOVE storms! With enough thunder and lightning, it's like a mini 4th of July.

My favorite though is the thunder, the really REALLY loud thunder! You know, the kind that shakes the whole house for a few seconds. Although my favorite place to be in a storm is out in the rain. Though being inside and the sound of the rain hitting the house is relaxing as well.... heck I dunno, I just like storms no matter what.

I don't really like lightning. I'm surrounded by trees where I live and lightning comes really close sometimes if the weather is bad enough....

I find Lightning to be awesome. It is fascinating and beautiful. But that doesn't mean its not scary, at least not to me.

A bolt of lightning is hotter than the surface of the sun, and carries more amps (electrical current) than anything on this planet. 50,000 volts, and a wattage I'm unsure of, not to mention it moves so fast that it breaks the sound barrier and you hear the sound of it up to a minute later, in the form of what we know as Thunder. Now, if the Lightning is close enough, it'll still break the sound barrier, but you'll hear the Thunder almost instantaneously, but always at least a second behind the Lightning and it'll be super loud, in some cases, strong enough to break fragile windows.

What's the closest anyone has ever been to a bolt of Lightning?

When I was a younger lad, there was a bad storm brewing that kicked up pretty bad out of no where. I was home alone and how to take down the Canapi over my patio, when a bolt of Lightning hit the yard about 15-20 feet from me. The flash was pure bright white, and had a red glow to it. I closed my eyes and was knocked on my butt by the loud thunderclap that followed it just after it struck my hard. I thought to myself "screw the canapi" and went back inside.

It was intense but scary, and it all happened in no more than 5 seconds. 3 for the Lightning and Thunder, and 2 for me to get back inside.

Well the flash the thunder makes that crackles signifies that it'll bring down Lightning along with some more crackling..

both are scary.. but since Lightning is the only thing that can hurt you while you're on the ground.. you should fear it more

When I used to work at McDonald's there was a storm while I was on one of the front registers, I got to see lightning strike the golden arches out front. Coolest site I've ever seen, and the best day I've ever had at work.

Between the two... i fear the loudness of Thunder. i don't mind to much over the lightning. Simply it's a one out of a ninety nine chance that you'll get strucked.
I hate Thunder...It rattles alot of things and the sound to me is just to powerful...I hate it >_< it scares me too..

for some reason it's a good feeling sleeping all comfy knowing you're safe from big bad Thunder and friends.

Nah...Feeling comfortable under that kinda noise? there's no chance my dear....I'd get awaken from the sound then to feel at eased and asleep. Just not gonna happen for me...
Well as long as i'm into the arms of someone who may keep me from the big bad thunder ^_^.

I love it...love it all. I've had trees in my backyard get hit by lightning, and thunder right overhead for ages...but I can't help loving it.
