What was or is your favorite 2D fighter, and what was or is your favorite 3D fighter.

Ever.

Give the system(s) it was on, and the systems it was ported to if that happened.

2D was Marvel VS Capcom 2 for me. (Originally on Dreamcast. Ported to PS2 & X-Box)

3D was Tech Romancer. (Dreamcast.)

2D - Street Fighter games. I don't know I think they were probably on every system up to about the PS, I just remember the SNES ones.

(Favorite overall)-> 3D - Dead or Alive games. I think it went from Saturn to PS to Dreamcast to PS2 to Xbox to the 360.

2D-Street fighter, i grew up on the ones for SNES.

2D continued-...I just love both Super smash bros, havnt played it in a while, but when I was hitting that game like everyday it was the best ever. So much sensless butt kicking...

3D- Soul Calibur 2 and 3.

There are plenty of great 3D fighting games out there. DOA Series, Soul Edge / Soul Calibur series, Tech Romancer, Psychic Force 2012, Powerstone 1 & 2, Tekken series, Virtua Fighter series.

There are plenty of great 3D fighting games out there. DOA Series, Soul Edge / Soul Calibur series, Tech Romancer, Psychic Force 2012, Powerstone 1 & 2, Tekken series, Virtua Fighter series.

2D fighters are faster pace and I'll take holding back to block over a button any day. It was my opinion and you will damn well accept.

What is the difference between pressing back on the control pad, and pressing X, in all honesty? Besides where your thumb is going on the controller?

None.

And for the record, there are plenty of 3D games where you can hold back to block. Like DOA. X is for counter-attacks =p

The best 2-D game would have to be my all time favorite, Street Fighter, every single last one....

The best 3-D games would have to be my all time favorites, Dead or Alive 4 and Soul Calibur 3...

Anyway, getting back to the topic, SC3 nearly beats VF4:Evo as my favorite 3d, but not quite. Love the character creation however. Might buy it just for that.

well, its kind of both...most of it is a 2D side-scrolling, but there are some 3D moments. It does SEEM 3D though....i'd consider it 2D and a half. lol

my favorite 3D fighting games are Soul Calibur II and 3

i would say TERRY BOGUARD, MAI FROM KOF, ROY FROM KOF, ALL OF MARVEL VS CAPCOM 1 & 2,KASUMI FROM DOA, HITOMI FORM DOA, AND KILK FROM ALL OF SOUL CALIBUR.
