    Default Favorite Manga Publishing Company?

So who's your favorite manga publishing company, ex. Tokyopop, Viz, ect, and why?

    Personally:

Seven Seas Manga- A new, but strong America-based company producing most of the titles on my must have list.

Tokyopop- Why? Because they have Samurai Champloo. That's why.

All my Let's Plays can be found here!
    Currently LPing: Rome Total War:
    Latest Update:
Chapter 3: The Last King of Carthage.
    Start from the beginning:
    Chapter 1: Sicily Unified.

    Wink

I thought Raijin Comics was an awesome publisher, and as for an authentic Japanese comic book release in the West, everyone missed it. Unfortunately, due to poor sales, Raijin Comics went into indefinite hiatus.

Unfortunately, comics like Shonen Jump... which, don't get me wrong, I've always been a fan of, sold better in the West due to the titles such as Dragonball Z and Naruto.

Raijin Comics brought Grappler Baki, Fist of the North Star/Blue Sky, Slam Dunk! and also, City Hunter to the West in Manga form. I don't need to go into detail, but basically, most of the titles in Raijin have been massively popular in Japan at sometime or another. Infact, Fist of the North Star was originally a Shonen Jump title once upon a time in the eighties, but due to the supposedly massive level of violence, I assume they didn't have the balls to publish it in the West.

Raijin Comics was releasing an affordable, weekly manga comic book... about as authentically Japanese as you could get in the United States, I'm betting. But for some bizarre reason, everyone gave it a miss. Which sucked, really... because with the right level of interest, it would've still been Weekly. Toward the end, it had no choice but to become Monthly.

Besides that, I'm a big supporter of the classic Shonen Jump, which brought a lot of beloved characters to the animé/manga world, no doubt. I also think Viz aren't bad, they released the manga series of Battle Royale, after all.

    1) TOKYOPOP
    +Leaves on suffixes
    +Pretty accurate translations
    +Nice boxes
    +Releases anime novels
-Expensive (thin books are still $9.99)

    2) Shonen Jump
    +Accurate translations
+Leaves in suffixes and Japanese terms
    +Cheaper than TOKYOPOP
+Good deals on boxsets/ manga packs

    3) Viz
    +Cheaper than TOKYOPOP
    +Very accurate translations
    -Suffixes not left in
-Kansai accent isn't understandable when translated (in my opinion)
