Anime and your parents...

Well at first my dad didn't think it was good for a 16 year old boy to be watching "cartoons" and then i made hime sit down and watch a few episodes of FMA and Inuyasha, then he was like Oooooooh. So now i'm free to watch them anytime i want.

P.s.: Is Avatr the last airbender considered an anime?

My mom and dad watched anime as kids,so they're fine with it.

My dad even took notice of me watching anime,and asked if I wanted to learn Japanese. o_o;;

But...I decided to pass.

Plus,I'm only semi-fluent in Korean (my native tongue),so my mom would probably have been against it anyway.

My mom's a religious hypocrite, and she says anime is the work of the devil. My dad's fine with it though. When we wanted to watch YuYu Hakusho back in the day, and my mom won't let us, my dad turned on the TV and said he was the one watching it XD That shut her up. She's a lot less uptight now, but maybe that's 'coz I don't watch so much anime anymore.

I don't think Avatar counts as anime, unless it's creator is Japanese. The animation is anime-style, though. For the record, I like Avatar, Teen Titans and Ben 10 ^^

My parents are fine with anime(not that they watch that much) but heck! My brother's definitely a MAD fan of Inuyasha (nothing that he is only THREE). Hehe, I'ts kinda of funny watching him running around with his friends shouting "Wind Scar!!!" and stuff like that.

My friends are...er... Let's just say they've never heard of it before. New Zealand is REALLY slow getting stuff like anime and manga (We went to a convention that was screening Fullmetal Alchemist:Conquere of Shambala. After tha movie, everyone was like "What was that all about" And "What the hell is anime?"

Many years ago my dad hated it & turned my oldest brother against it. However, my mother and other older brother became otakus with me. My oldest bro still despises it, but my dad is beginning to enjoy my still anime-style art.

My mom loves it. It's actually through her that I was able to get a good chunk of my anime and manga when I was little. She'll watch anything I bring home and read whatever manga I buy. xd She's an avid IY fan and writes IY fanfiction.

My Dad loves Tenchi Muyo...He would love a lot of the other ones too, but he can't see very well at all. He's practically blind-and too add to that-I frequently do not have the english dubbed versions of my anime-(no bi-lingual stuff) so he can't understand it either, let alone read the subs...So-he's biased.

They watch it with me at times, Shows like GIT's and such my dad watchs. My mom just sits down, ask the famous question "What is this?" and leaves at times if it sounds to far out there lol.

Well...My mom thinks anime is all about Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. She respects my interest in Japan, but anime she doesn't get. For instance, she pronounces Inuyasha Inuwasha and Naruto Nakuto.

My mother would like to get into new anime, because she used to watch old animes like Speed Racer and Kimba the White Lion...I just never get the time to let her get into any...nor does she have time ;_;. Since I draw anime also, they want me to make use of it. <3~

Abosolutely.............no. It may contain characteristics of an anime, but it was produced in America, and it airs on Nickolodeon. That goes for the other "Anime" like characteristic cartoons: W.I.T.C.H, Martin Mystery, etc. They are cartoons. Not anime. =)

Hate to break it to you, bu anime is cartoons. Just a type of cartoon that has a certain type of style, common to Japanese culture. It does not have to come from Japan to be of the same style.

To be quite honest. My parents don't even know what anime IS. I mean they know what the word means, obviously, but otaku's terms no. They don't watch cartoons of any sort, and mainly just work. A lot.

My mom though, will actually pop up her gamecube and play pacman and all those other games that she loves. She's more of a Heros, Law & Order, and Numbers type of person.. Same with my dad.

I think they're lame! x) I like supernatural shows. I don't care for anime, unless it's Sailormoon. And ... That's about the it.
