Anime and your parents...

Well as long as it keeps me quiet and doesn't interfere with my homework, my parents are perfectly fine with it. I know it sure helped my art mark. To them anime isn't anything special, in fact they can't understand why I'm so darn interested in it. Well neither can I I don't see why parents wouldn't allow their kids to watch anime, assuming it's the appropriate anime for the appropriate age group anyways.

I don't see why either. Theres nothing wrong with it. My crazy grandma thinks it's messing up my brain (see my third to last post)
Anyway, parents who don't let their kids watch anime, I think they should watch it and see what it's really about. And about the Manga. It IS considered reading. I'm sure you learn one or two things from it. It helped my art mark too!!

My mom is cool with anime she watches some herself. She'll be watching a piece of anime and I will be like yeah mom I know I watch it too.

My mum don't like me watching anime. Its not cus she thinks its for kids(she does think that though) but that i watch it a lot and she thinks i go on the computer too much becuse of that. She's right. I have also gone unhealthier and shes worried about that as well. And she thinks its gonna make me blind cus I have to wear glasses to see a computer so i can see it clearly. Again she is right. But I cant stop. I am addicted to it.

i've been watching anime for more than 10 yrs now. so my parents refer to all anime as 'sailor moon'. when they dont want me to help them do something they say "go watch your sailor moon". they have no issues with it. to them its just a cartoon or doll or book.

LOL that's funny. Yeah I sometimes wonder if our neigbor can hear us. If he can he hasn't said anything. MY mom doesn't really like anime. Hey, she's just like your parents Bibi of the Blue Sea. She thinks that anime is called Digimon. She'll just say "Oh are you drawing Digimon again? Go watch your Digimon." or she'll say to my dad, "They've gone to watch their Digimon." It's my dad that actually corrects her and he gets it right almost everytime. He can't really say "Inuyasha" though. "It's not digimon, it's Fullmetal Alchemist." Then, usually (because she's so darn freakin stupid) she'll say "What's an alchemist?"

My mom doesn't know the first thing about anime. As long as I watch it in my room, she doesn't care. Even if she did try to watch it, she probably wouldn't understand it (too many Lifetime movies).

Yeah, I only watched Digimon for a bit untill I found DBZ. But my mom would still call it Pokemon or Digimon. Then after awhile she would start to call it Dragonball. Whats with parents and sticking to the first thing they hear about.
She likes YuYu Hashuko? My dad likes Inuyasha, FMA, Naruto and I'm going to ty and get him to watch Shaman King.

That's really not fair. You should try and get them to watch it. Manga is still reading though. I learn lots from FMA and it gives me lots of ideas for stories I have to write in English. My dad says that he's glad kids watch anime and that theres allot of good life morals. Just try to get them to watch a really good one. It might work.

I don't exactly know what My parents think about anime, It's my life and it's basically me, so if they don't like it, I would take it as not likeing me. anime is the one thing that really makes me happy, truely happy. And if they have a problem with it, let them, because i like it and they can't change that so, Let them think what they think!

Thing is, if I draw an awesome picture, I can't really show it to them because I'd feel too sheepish to explain to them who they characters are. >__>;;;

Yeah, that's what it used to be for me. Now it's if I wanna show my grandparents a drawing I did. Lets say it's a picture of Zelgadis from Slayers. They didn't really get it because I was trying to explan why he had rocks on his face, but they just didn't get it.

My parents watch all my anime with me... I think they think it's a good distraction from school. But when I was tiny Dad used to get Genesis Evangelion out the library (I hated most of the animes he got out, but I didn't mind that one... or Ranma 1/2). So you could say my parents love anime! I mean, my mom and my little brother got me heaps of Naruto posters for xmas... and my Mum bought me a hitai-ate off the internet. And my dad Dad downloads Naruto and Bleach every week... and Hellsing when it comes out.
