    Default Graduation Exams

I believe there are exams going on or will be having exams soon. I live in Washington state. Students in 4th, 7th, and 10th grade needs to take a test call WASL. The highschoolers in Washington state has to get more than 31 credits to graduate but for the 2008 graduationg students which i am, we are required to pass the WASL. If i fail the test, i still wont be able to graduate even if i got 31 credits.

I know that all 50 states in America has the different exams. What are they called? what's required? like or hate? Comments about the exams? Tell about it because i would love to know more about other states.

In my school, we have TAKS. (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) We have to pass it during our junior year(11th) in order to graduate. Its not a hard test. Not for me anyways. I think our principal worries about it too much. Over half the school has mandatory tutoring. Test happens mid-April. And everyone that isnt a junior takes a prepetory test that day. I don't have to worry much till next year since im a sophomore.

    Thumbs up

Our Exams are nothing much of hard. I live in new yorks, and it's a bit too easy. All we have to get is 21 credits to graduate, and pass a few tests, Thats about it. I would never believe that you would have to do so much to graduate like that.

There Is No Such Thing As Impossible.

my state has TAKS too. gaaaaaaahh! it was so boring and it was lame as heck. you'd have to be below average to not pass that..it used to be called something else, but i totally forgot..my junior year was when they first revised it to TAKS from this other test.

we here have UAN / state exmanination (oh btw I'm on the 12th grade)
it's rather tiring since the total final exam take about more than one month.
It's the monthly test, followed by the end semester pratice & theory/written exam, after that a pre-test for UAN & come then state exam. (starts about mid April and end in mid May; and before that the monthly exam still going on every month.... hhh)
Really, it's tiring, imagine having exam consecutively over 1 month >.< eek...

I live in Trinidad in the Caribbean and weeused to have Enlish exams (ie A'levels) but now they've changed it and its horrible!! I wish we still had Alevels... now we have CAPE and it stinks- we do the same amount of work, but we have an extra set of exams, the year before the last set of exams. So then we have less time for teaching and students get drowned in work. i absolutely hate it- and i've just finished the first term!!

Well i escaped the exit exam i think that is what it is called. But i support it. Because i rather see a kid know his or her stuff entering college instead of not knowing it and failing. If they need an extra year, well okay then, then they need an extra year. But the thing is, is that the exams are really really really easy. The tests are directed to the people who really need help.

... really! Then you must be younger than I thought, because it became a graduation requirement last year (my junior year), much to the relief of my classmates, although it didn't matter to me since I passed all portions of it anyway.

BY the way, I don't think the 31 credits applies to all schools in Washington, just schools who use the block shceduling system since block scheduling gives more classes therefore more credits therefore requires more credits to graduate. IIRC, FW High School only requires 28 credits to graduate since they use the more traditional system of credit requirements.

Er...well, in my Junior year of high school we took something called the HSPAs (high school proficiency assessment). It dealt largely in math and English, testing students on what they were expected to know up to that point. Anyone scoring below the average percentile were automatically enrolled in remedial English and math classes the following year in hopes of catching up.

The irritating thing is that while I scored somewhere around the 97th percentile group, my state, unlike many others in this area, does not offer special benefits to students who score well. In fact, in some of those same states, my score would have earned me free state college >< Figures. Bloody New Jersey...
