Okay, so I'm a total beginner in Japanese. I know little things, like 'Sakana wa akai des(u)' (the fish is red).
I need help when it comes to structure here:
Okay, I heard on a forum that when you get surprised by seeing something, you go 'nani kore??', which directly translates to 'what this??'. I'm learning simple sentence structure, so wouldn't it make more sense saying 'nani wa kore des(u)??', which means 'What's this??'? Is this just the way it goes, or is it a shortcut, or what?
Same thing with 'kono baka'. Could you say 'kono baka desu', which means 'this IS stupid'? I don't know, I'm just purely guessing here.
