What would you sacrifice for you're dreams?

Well, I'm sure we all have hopes and dreams in this world, and we all know that they don't come cheap. We have to work to achieve what we want in this world. So that's the question here, (and it's a good economics question to now that I think of it...)

What are you giving up to pursue the future you want? How certain do you feel that it is worth the cost or risk?

I'm giving up my family, my religion, and everything I used to believe in for the woman I love. I don't care who knows it, I'm a lesbian, and I'm in love with a wonderful woman that I just adore. I wish I could be with her now, but alas, I'm here. lol Is it worth is? Yes. I will blow all the money I have to fly to England and make her mine. =^_^=

yes, i am very cautious, my attempts to reach my dreams are paths that cost as little as possible in case i mess up.

Well, I have a serious dream myself which I am risking quite a bit for at the moment.

Simply put, I want to be a marine. Or a soldier, or airman, or corpman, hell I'd almost settle for sailor. I want to join the military, but for over 2 years now they've been telling me I can't join. I applied for waivers for each branch and they still turned me down.

For me, it's a long shot. I spend most of my free time excersising and training so I might have a better chance when I apply again...

I'm ignoring my school work in order to do so (as if I needed to study... I'm technically goofing off right now, I already know about windows...) and since I'm not giving up gaming yet, the other thing would be sleep... I average about 4 hours a night. My parents have threatened that if I fail again they will kick me out (which I'm aware isn't an idle threat, they cut off all financial support to my sister when she didn't finish college in 4 years).

Do I think that a mere chance to accomplish what I want in life is worth the risk's of what I'm giving up? Obviously, yes, I don't think I'd be risking it if they weren't.

I am working very hard to make my dreams reality. It's all about passion and dedication. I have both. I haven't had to give up a whole lot. I moved away from my parents, but I'm only 2 hours from them. That's about all.

All I give up is my sleep to be able to peruse my dream, University requires a lot of work so I have to work late in the night to write my novel. When I get the novel published I do also risk my reputation and credibility because of the subjects and theories it contains. So I'm willing to risk my own popularity and sleep to gt my art (Writing) to the world.

I don't really have a dream. I'm not saying it as a stupid joke to minimize the importance of the subject. I really don't, and I find it kind of sad. I'm an unfocused slacker. Well, I guess that's not completely true. I mean, I always try my hardest, but that effort isn't concentrated enough on any specific goal.

But the wierd thing is that I sacrifice for things that aren't even my dream. I mean, I've given up my social life to succeed at this damnable school, but I don't care about my grades. Not one tiny bit. And my grades could still be better anyway.

Maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way. I think I've got it. Maybe my dream is just to succed, period. (I know this is gonna sound like corny bs, but I actually thought of this in the process of writing this response.)
