Ok, people who aren't from western Pennsylvania might not have heard this yet. There was a columnist (Bill Johnson) for a Denver news paper who recently visited Pittsburgh. The article he wrote about us, if you ever read it, is just plain offensive.
A few exerts, "Pittsburgh is a butt ugly town." "Only a place like this would name their football team the 'Steelers'."
Now I'll admit Pittsburgh aint exactly the prettiest town on earth, but ugly? Who does Bill Johnson think he is?
Even if a town would qualify as "ugly" there is no justification to putting it in writing and having thousands of people read it and offend thousands more. I mean come on, if you see an ugly person on the street, you don't walk up to them and tell them to put a bag over their head.
The funny part of this story is that he was still in Pittsburgh for a few days after the Denver newspaper printed not 1, but 2 articles of him talking down to my city. One local news station tracked him down for an interview, in which they were also 'introducing' him to the local pittsburgh residents, including many Steelers fans...
He ended up correcting himself a little bit, possibly trying to save his hide until he could retreat home, saying "This is not a bad town. Not at all. I swear it. Now can I please come home?"
