Shounen ai...Why?

I think a lot of people know what I'm talkin' about. "Boy love anime" I don't have an interest in it myself but my buddy's girlfriend made him what whol seasons of it. "Burrrgh" Makes me shiver thinking about his pain. No offence to fans of this kind of anime, But i don't think I could watch an episode with my mind intact....Oh the insanity! What is the appeal? I mean, I heard of "Gravitation" but I'm to afriad to take a look. (Questions the sexuality if seen with it in public)

Is shounen ai and Yaoi parallel?

I dunno much, maybe people/mangaka gets over-creative? Hehehe.

I'm not a fan of these thingy myself, its disgusted me. (No offence to the Yaoi/shounen ai fanz!!).

I even shocked to see more results of sites search for these 'alternative' pairings (take SasukeXNaruto or TouyaXYukito for example) than normal pairings.

Fans turns straight anime guys to queer for fun. Eheh.

Uh, well. My opinion, it's strange. I don't like it.

The reason I like Gravitation has nothing to do with the genders of the characters. I like Gravitation for the same reason I like anything else I like, because it is an excellent storyline with deep interesting characters. Don't judge a story you haven't read because it has two guys or two girls who love each other in it; judge it for the story, the character development and the art. Gravitation is about true love, true acceptance, dealing with regret, dealing with personal pain, and so much more. If you don't like the fact that it has two guys or two girls, don't read it. You're entitled to your opinion, but please don't judge it if you haven't read it enough to know what it's really about. Besides, if you are secure in who you are it shouldn't matter what manga or anime you are carrying around for anyone whose opinion matters will ask you before they judge.

i don't know about other fans out there but yes i am a shounen ai and yaoi fan. I've read so many shoujo manga's that i find alot of them tending to be the same. i still love alot of them but i find that the romance in alot of the shounen ai and yaoi manga's seems more romantic and a part of it i know is that they do romanticize alot of the stories. but i juss like alot of the pairing more and i find i like the coupling more. and plus alot of girls from either shoujo or anime in general annoy me. the weaker ones who cry are the ones that are annoying to me.

Same here. I just found some Shonen-Ai pictures of Yugi x Kaiba or Naruto x Sasuke from these fan fiction. But the fact is Yaoi is very different from Shonen-ai having some love scenes. Hey kids. Don't watch these Yaoi at home.

lol..the only thing that you should be shivering about is Yaoi, thats hard core for even me to watch..>_>;; Shounen-ai isnt half bad. Its just a guy having the hawts for a guy, and they get together. There isn't any "bad" graphics when watching Shounen-ai, just maybe a kiss or so. And mind you im a fan. ^_^
Gravitation, is a good shounen-ai anime, because it has a greate story line and fantastic musics. Plus its pretty funny at some point.

For the people that thought I was dissing Shounen-ai, I wasn't. I'm just stating that I don't enjoy watching two guys....having it out....or so to speak. I'm not offended or anything, I just thought you were asking a question and were a little turned off by two guys. Since you asked the question, I was explaining what I think on the topic, specifically in regards to Gravitation. What you like or don't like is up to you, doesn't matter to me. The only reason I said don't judge is because you were so...not open to it. There are several great stories out there and it's a shame to miss out on them simply because there are two guys who care about each other in them. Finding love is so hard to begin with... The thing is, two guys liking each other has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them...and in a story it's not even real, but that's another issue and in essence it is your choice how you see that. These characters are just like a real person who likes the same gender...if you decide not to get to know them, you could be missing out on a great friendship. Still your choice, I just hate to see people confined in society's box is all. ^_^ If I was upset, you'd know, but if you refuse to read it based upon the characters, you are not giving the storyline a chance. I understand your reasons, I just don't agree with them. I agree however, Rome wasn't built in a day and many things take time to open up to...I just try to present the other sides of arguements if I feel strongly about them.

Don't worry, you'll be seen as a bisexual in public with the Gravitation manga in your hand-- especially if it's the uncensored one. That'd just make you look like a pervert, heh.

I don't understand why people stereo-type shounen-ai animes/mangas. They're awesome (in my opinion) because... Whew! I find myself smaked in the face with the ideal of great storylines, when ironcally I try to go by great storylines, For example; In video games, I play the ol' RPGs with 2-D graphics, and my friends tell me they suck because of the graphics, that is when i preach my ideals of storylines. I love the storylines of the old games. Like the LUNAR series, and others. (I know, Video games are off topic but it's just the example that comes to mind.) In the end I'm just trying to say thank you all for shedding light upon my situation. Who knows? mabye I'll be seen with a copy of Gravitation someday....or mabye Errie Queerie....(Although I don't think the possesion of a guy by a female spirit, making him ask guys out counts as shonen ai...)
