    Default Korn's Return (overdue thread)

Hi! My name is Souless but you know that already. Anyway, i was wondering the views of all of you on the rather "Survival" of Korn after the band's guitarist Monkey left the band scene for religion. I read in Metal Edge an interview with Jonathon Davis and it seems as if the whole religion thing really did hit him. Well that aside, i personally like the previous music of Korn. It had more feeling and strength in it compared to this new album, "See You On The Other Side." I mean, when you compare it to albums such as, "Follow the Leader", "Issues", "Take A Look In The Mirror", "Self Entitled". It just dosen't compare. I believe, the band after being hit by this little dilema has caused it to take a curve for the worst. I fear the old Korn will never return.

    1. The guys name is Munky.
    2. It was not Munky that left the band, it was Brian "Head" Welch.
    3. It's already a Korn discussion going on http://www.animeforum.com/showthread.php?t=21048

But I can say what I believe again.
Korn is no longer in the buisness because they care about either their music or their fans. They're now playing because it's good money. This started around the "Take A Look In The Mirror" album where they suddenly get a new sound. This sux big time because Korn was revolutionary metal. The heavy riffs they used was new, no one had before gone that low on guitars. They also were kinda the first nu-metal band before Limp Bizkit came and standarized the nu-metal genre by adding some rap into it.

So they're the idiots that ruined metal with "nu" metal. I thought it was those emo punks Linkin Park. What the hell is everyone's fixation with korn? So they went low with guitars, anyone can tune a guitar 3 steps lower than normal and make it sound cool, in fact I play normally tuned 3 steps down. It sounds cool, but thats why. It would sound kinda stupid played in normal E A D G B E tuning. I remember when I was 8, young and impressional, I STILL thought korn sucked.

Ok i couldn't really care if one of the members of korn left because i stop listening to them a long time ago when they brought * Take A Look In The Mirror * I wonder why the hell they even try anymore that album was Crap i did not enjoy it like i did * Follow The Leader and Issuses * they should have broken up when they got old and now they are overated. I mean honestly did anyone actully like them in the first place.

Well it is good to know i'm not the only one who dislikes the new style of Korn. I supose "See You On The Other Side" Really meant it was a goodbye. Well personally i liked their older style music. I do apologize for error on my part due to spelling and the band member leaving. My bad, false information can be dealt with smoothy to the giver. Anyhow, I liked the older Korn. Their music just seemed to move me for some reason. I supose it takes a certain type of person to like such angst and somewhat depressing style of music. Tis all.

ok, head left the band, not monkey. and ALL bands change from their old music...they mature. all bands go through it, nothing can be done to keep that from happening. in a sense, Im glad bands mature...it shows who are their real fans (true fans will never betray their favorite band)

Ah, Korn. Seems like now, they're just one more band for people to toss on the pile labelled "Sellouts." But it seems that that's the most apt description for them now. Like Gandizzl said, they've gone past their "let's make cool music" phase and are now in the "let's make lots of money" phase. Over are the days of songs like Need To, Predictable, Mr. Rogers, Kill You, Justin, My Gift To You, and the other songs I loved Korn for. Frankly, I started liking them less and less from Issues onward. But such is the fate of bands like this, it seems. System of a Down is really going the same way, too, which is sad, because they were another great band in their junior days. *sigh* Rest in peace (and money), Korn, for you are dead to me.
Hello, all you boys and girls,
I'd like to take you to the inside world.
It's quite an irregular place to be,
But never fear, you're safe with me.

    ...Well, maybe.
