Greatest RPG ever made!!!

What is your opinion on the greatest RPG (RolePlayingGame) ever made? Is it any of the Final Fantasy games, a Online Rpg, any of the .hack//sign games, one of the newer RPG's, or is it some other RPG no one has ever heard about? Your opinion is welcome! It's not limited to the genres I listed above; as long as it's an RPG of any kind! Well, have fun, and keep your opinions clean!

I like the Zelda games, but I dont know if they count as rpg's. If they dont, I really like Tales of Symphonia. That game RULEZ!!!!!!

...im not gonna choose...instead i shall watch as many argue whether final fantasy 7, 8, 9, 10, star ocean 2, legend of dragoon, .hack, or ect is better.

MMO - Lineage II would probally be my choice, favouritism is a huge factor with this choice, though the scale of the game is huge with clans starting castle sieges to earn control of the territory, controling tax rates of npc merchants. A huge PVP fest though character classes lack in skill variety.

MMO 2 - Guild Wars, another MMO that focuses more on the PvP side of things rather than one whole level up frenzy. This is more about your clan battling for supremacy in the ladder, or just to earn rank and fame in the hall of heros.

RPG - GaMeGoD is right about the FF issue, most people will probally say 7+, completely disreguarding 4-6 which in my opinion are better ones than 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-2 could ever be! Zelda A Link To The Past is a big favourite of mine, absolutly love the story line for that one. I can't really say which is the best truth be told since there isn't an RPG game that is truely perfect in my eyes.

My favourite RPG would have to be Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. I loved the storyline and Geno was my favourite character in that game...

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. I'm not saying this as a Star Wars fanboy, its just a good RPG, period. I ain't even gonna consider FF, 'cuz they've been the SAME DAMN GAME for years.

In my opinion, the only Rpg that I really enjoyed was Chrono Trigger other than that I don't really remembers.
I used to like the FF series but now all I do is hate them I don't know why.

Final Fantasy VI (that's 6 in Japan, 3 in America), probably the best RPG ever made. Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana are up there as well though.

I don't find the .hack games very entertaining at all Suri. Actually, the best RPG I've ever played was Tales of Symphonia. Actually that ties with FF III and II.

I am going to say the dot hack games also. One because it is a different kind of RPG other than the various Final Fantasy games this game features live action fighting like Kingdom Hearts. I also like the game because you get to choose which levels you go to and you get a free anime DVD if you buy the game new or if the last person kept the movie in its box. I really don't have a version that I like except that I am stuck on Part 2. I like to put in different key words and see what I get. Secondly I don't live that far from the company who made the game which was BAN DAI.

Ability to choose? Where? I must have missed that. Sure, you can do some random grinding dungeon whenever you will, but if you want to get on with the story, you have to go where the game tells you to go. There's only one path in the game you can follow, which isn't exactly what I call freedom.

Hm I can't decide between Never Winter Knights and Star Wars Knights Of the Old Republic.Both are great RPG's.I like NWN's character creation and development and the huge amount of side quests.And SW:KOTOR has a really nice story and characters.

For quite some time, it was a commonly accepted belief that Xenogears was the best RPG made.
Myself, I will stand by Final Fantasy VI all the way.

As far as MMO's go, Guild Wars was hugely disappointing. It was fun for about a month, but it couldn't hold my attention much longer.

Guild Wars may not be that interesting, but it has something that WOW doesn't: NO MONTHLY FEE. That's my biggest beef with MMO's, that I'm gonna be paying for a game that I will slave to for about a month, then only play it passingly afterwards.

To be honest, i felt the same way. Episode 2 was way to much of a space opera. KOTOR kinda got me back in to the spirit of what star wars really was.

If that's how you play your games, I can understand that line of thinking. If you actually want to keep playing a game, like WoW, where content is continuously being updated, then it is completely sensible that you would pay for server maintenance and game updates. Anyone who feels that the game designer's and server maintainer's time isn't worth 50 cents a day.. You make me sad.
