It's time for another mini-contest! There is still some time until the big December Holidays contest, so to pass the time here is a little challenge for you.

Make a wallpaper using only one color. Yes, one color. But not just any color!

It must be..... RED! All red. No blues, no greens, no yellows...red. How do you do this? A simple way is to apply a red hue after you make a wallpaper, but be creative!


The challenge will run until November 30th. On that day there will be a people's choice voting thread opened up.

I hope that you take part in the challenge! As a reminder, the annual December Holidays contest will be held in December (duh), so stay tuned.

Rules:
1) you must make a full wallpaper. No re-coloring an already existing wallpaper.
2) atleast 800x600, but 1024x768 is better
3) sign your work

If I remember, and after remembering have enough time, I'll take a swing at it. I have to take my newly received Adobe Photoshop 7 for a big jump test run. We'll see what happens.

I'll do this with GIMP....are we aloud to use black or only real dark red?

The wallpaper must be red. Red hues are ok, and yes, you may end up with dark red or black. It's ok. But, the redder the better! Here is an example. It's actually from last year's Color Me Blue December contest, but I recolored it in red so that you can see what I mean.

I've been engineering a new piece since this morning, and I'm going to try to make it as good as possible.

So the neutrals (white and black) are allowed, along with different shades of red. The problem is, some of my wallpaper has some discoloration in spots. Just tiny streaks of yellow and some purple from some blending effects. Is this okay, or will I have to take it out? Absolutely nothing other than red?

absolutely red. Black and white are ok as they are non-colors, but purple and yellow are not. Sorry, gotta make them red.

Okay, readjusted to the settings. This is as far as I go. I'm sick of looking at it. I really can't see how to improve anymore, so I'll just hope it's enough to carry me to first.

I spent about an hour on the extraction. I'm proud because I actually extracted!!! I didn't just whip out the eraser and butcher everything in sight. The image itself only took me about four hours, other than that, I spent a bunch of extra time doing some finishing touches.

Sorry about the size, but I want it to be as high quality as possible.

I know I have a wallpaper that looks almost exactly like this one, but I actually made this one first, then got inspired to make a blue, normal one for my sister. Made this today. >_< I know it's not good, but I hope I atleast get 3rd. Anyways, yup.

Lol, I actually had been starting a new one, but the girl was too big so I couldn't really do anything to it. This one makes me atleast a little proud.

OK, I finished and I think it came out pretty well, keeping in mind that I completely drew the image on the computer....no recoloration of a scan, just a mouse and GIMP. All red and signed, followed all the rules....yea haw.
