    Default Favorite Manga/anime artist

well i have seen this thread before in the handy search feature, but it's long dead and has very few posts(no point bringing back a topic from May)

soo, who is your favorite manga/anime artist?

Mine would be Masamune Shirow. I feel in love with his work after seeing Ghost in the Shell for the first time. I decided to watch the movie after hearing so much hype about it, and i loved the movie. and what luck? 2 months later they aired Stand Alone Complex on Adult swim. However, shirows work doesn't end with GITS. Masamune has had many works published, and here's a list of some of them.

    Ghost in the Shell
Ghost in the Shell 2:Man Machine interface
    Black Magic
    Appleseed
    Dominion
    Intron Depot

Shirow also has Hundreds of stand alone peices. Poster books(which my sig was taken from), a yearly calander(which is hanging on my wall at the moment), and he even draws hentai!

Shirow's style is diffrent from most manga artists for a reason. All of his manga work is done in oils (the colored sections anyway) and ALL of his stand alone peices are done in oil pants as well. They look beautiful and he manages to capture lighting and shadowing PERFECTLY in almost all of his works.

Some of his work is a little perverted (look at my current sig) but who really cares, he does a damn good job of it. and he's also more realistic when it comes to female bodies. Most artists draw their women with (girls don't get angry at me please, it's just an artistic observation, please no offense ment) Perfectly round boobs. In the real world, the perfectly round boobs rarly exist unless you get implants or contain them in a bra. So he keeps this in mind when drawing breasts.

Masamune will most likely remain my favorie artist...in general, and that won't change any time soon.

i have links to a lot of his work, so if you wish to see them, PM me and ask (some of them are a bit...mature, so i can't post them)

Note: i won't hand out manga scans, only stand alone works and poster book scans.

Some other artists i like are Akira Toriyama(Dragon Ball Z) Ken Akamatsu (Love Hina) Yukito Kishiro (Battle Angel Alita) and Nobuhiro Watsuki (Rurouni Kenshin)

Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. The art in the artbook Der Mond was awesome. His art also has a pretty good deal of variation, the characters don't all look alike.

Yuichi Kumakura who does King of Bandits Jing. The art style is very sketchy and light, but contains a lot of effects which ( i know) take a long time to do. If simply impressive.
I forget the name, but whoever did the BLAME! manga. I love the detailed, sketchy style which completely balanced light and dark, and gave a realistic feeling to the characters.
Hajime Ueda who did the FLCL manga, which is yet again, very impressive.

As you can tell, i like sketchy styles with clean "effects", probably because they are similar to my own....

Um... I'm not sure if u know them...
I'm more into the girly pretty kind of drawing so...
    I'll say

Tanemura Arina - who draws manga such as Full Moon wo sagashite, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne and some other manga.
I expexcually like her manga draws since it has such great details. Almost every one of the boxes is so beautiful. Also, she draws alot of angel drawing, their expertions (can't spells x.x) are so nice, it's very... calming...

    I also liked
Koge-Donbo - the artist of Pita ten and Digi Charat... though I wouldn't say the drawing is the best out there, but... the characters look so cute ^.^

I don't know who the artist of Sailor Moon is but I love her drawings too...
Because it inspired me to draw. (though I'm still not very good XP)
