growing up and loosing interest in all the stuff you love now.

do you guys ever think about 'growing up' and not having time for anime and video games and all the stuff you love now? i worry about it all the time, because i dont want to ever stop doing the things i do now. but it seems unrealistic that i will still be a member of this website 10 years from now.
i dont ever want to stop watching/drawing anime or waiting for the next big video game to come out.
do you get what i'm trying to say? am i the only one?

I might not always be so ... 'involved' in anime stuff/video games, but I'll always be interested in it. The main reason why I got into anime was the art, and I'll always have a passion for that.

But I know I'll always love and play video games. That's just something that is like .. etched into my tiny little brain. ^_^

And even in general, when you get older, you'll be exposed to more things and end up having more interests/opportunities. So, you'll be interested in different stuff. It's not a bad thing that you might grow out of something you liked as a kid. It's just a part of growing up, I think.

You don't have to lose interest in them if you don't want to. Your brain and your heart can be any age you want them to be. Though, most people grow and bloom in to different people and come to love different things. It's natural to lose interest and it's natural to change -- so don't worry.

Well..think about it this way: you are what you are. If you like something, you like something - if you don't, then you don't. Really these ideas of likes and dislikes ARE you. Maybe someday you really will grow out of something, but at that point you won't care enough to worry about your change in perception.

It's already happening to me gradually, if it isn't already finished happening. I've lost interest in video games for the most part, and I'm only on this site to kill some time till I get my NO stuff back, which won't be for a couple of months. Not that I won't miss u guys lol. But I guess that by the time it's finished happening I won't really care. The human mind is very complicated lol.

yea i have just lost interest in everything i once like from age. i loved videogames and now the 360 is come out and im not really all that excited about it. i was going crazy like a year ago over the idea of it. all i think now is oh man do i want that game/anime but i could do alot better things with my money. like driving.

I suppose it's quite natural for us to find new things, and get new interest as we grow up. We tend to try to find something new that suits our age better everytime we grow.

I do feel like I've lost interest in a few things I used to love as a kid. Obviously the first things kids grow out of as they get older are buying toys and such, but some people still do, but not me(outside of NASCAR collectible cars). Anime I was never really big on, and I only watch it on cartoon network, so as long as I have a Saturday off I should be fine with still watching some shows on there. Video games I haven't lost interest in, but I seem to play them less and less each day, mainly because it takes more in a game to entertain me than it used to. But I've also gained interest in things, such as sports and educational things like events in the midevil and anchient japanese times. So yeah, I guess when you get older you give and take a few things.


P.S. Sorry I've been gone for so long, my comp went beserk on me and I just got on a few days ago, so I hope you guys didn't miss me too much(but a little would be nice )

I'll still be interested in it. I have to. My plans for the future is to be an animator. I also cant really see anyone actually loosing interest in the things they love. There will just be less time for it. ^^ Until then just enjoy the things you love now.

That just isn't true, different things appeal to different age groups. That's why 40 year olds don't watch power rangers. And i was never a big anime fan, i enjoy FMA and a few others but i prefer live action. And my love of video games won't die, much like my love of star wars. I say this because i have loved both since forever, most other things have been fads.

Now, my take on this, as a "grown-up". I'm 22, and I live in a house filled with people who range in age from 21 to like 25. Every one of us is a geek in some way. Most of us enjoy at least the occassional anime and video game. Every one of us at least used to be much more interested in both.

Tastes change with age. It isn't just that you stop having the time, although it has grown harder for me to find the time for that between working and going to college. For instance, I used to be nearly obsessed with Fushigi Yuugi. Couldn't get enough of it. I own the entire series, the OVAs, and Eikoden. Last year I sat down to watch some of it, since I hadn't actually watched it in a few years, and I was surprised at how...not good it was. It was really cheesy and bad. It's a series targeted towards younger viewers, and it shows.

I also used to be into video games quite a bit. Even up until I was 20. I still like to play games sometimes, but it's not nearly as interesting as I used to think it was.

Yeah, it's a little sad that I don't really enjoy the things that I used to quite as much. But there are other things I have gotten into. And I still love anime, though my tastes have gravitated more towards manga within the past few years. I just enjoy a different type of anime now. And I still like video games, just certain ones.

My point is, as you mature you can still be interested in anime and video games, just that your tastes in what types are likely to mature with you.

Being an almost old person married to a old person, I can honestly say that you will always be able to make time for the things you really enjoyed as a kid ... eventually. For instance, I still watch anime ... with my kids. My husband started building plastic models again after taking a 10 year break. I still sing ... usually along with the Wiggles, but the point is we still make time for the things we used to, and still love doing.

Care Bears, My Little Ponies and Moon Shoes are making a comeback. It's just us old people buying the things we used to love to play with for our kids. Nostalgia ...

Normal, to be honest in front of everyone on AF now, even in front of Black Death, the only thing...i should say person.....that i valued the most was Carmi aka. Akichan. I regretted i told her that i care about her because as time goes on as she always says, and as im growing up too, i feel like i neglected her, because she was the only thing i care out of everything, that means everything!

I admit that i'm starting to throw away things i valued into the garbage can, stupid isnt it.

I have noticed lots of changes recently, i do things now at 15 that i never did before and its like natural.And every year i get less into anime and stuff. so maybe i might grow out of alot of things.
