First, what level are you starting at? Total beginner? Taken some classes?
Second, what do you want to learn? Conversation? Kanji?
Here are some sites that I use when I study:
1) http://www.mlcjapanese.co.jp/Download.htm : It is a website for a Japanese language school in Tokyo, but has free resources for studying for the JLPT. Start with 4kyuu (level 4) because it's the lowest level. Then, work up from there.
2) http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/wwwjdic.html : Jim Breen's dictionary. This is the best Japanese dictionary on the net, hands down.
3) http://www.jgram.org/ : Japanese Grammar! A very comprehensive database of all different types of grammar forms. Again, stick with level 4 for now, then work your way up. You can also sign up for a grammar-a-day mailing list!
3) http://www.rikai.com : got a Japanese page you want to read? Don't go to one of those sites that translates into horrible English. This will let you float-over the kanji and read it as you go. Great for kanji and reading practice, but maybe better when you get to be a higher level.
Good luck with your studies!
