Saved his gf from suicide, got killed... (would you sacrifice youreself for love?)

A 19-yearold boy tryed to rescue his gf from suicide and throw herself in front of a train. He called the police and screamed "help me!", three minutes later when the police arrived, the guy were dead. He sacrificed his life trying to rescue his girlfriend, but then the train ran over him.

That is soo sad, that things have to end out that way...

That said, no one can really say whether or not they would sacrifice themself for a loved one. Of course we all want to say, "YES!" immediately, but think about it. Really think about it. You would be dead. Your loved one would be alive and safe, but you would be dead. In all honesty, most people would probably freeze up in that sort of a situation. There is something to be said for adrenaline, of course, but would you have enough of a rush to overcome the mind numbing fear?

So that's a tough one to answer. As much as I want to say that I would die to save someone, I can't in all honesty say that because I've never been in that situation.

I doubt any of you would sacrifice your life for anyone. While it easy to say(type), everyone wants to live. I doubt I would, but one never knows. Anyhow, this is a lose-lose situation. Guy saves girl, guy dies, girl lives rest of her life in grief of how she got her bf killed. Guy doesn't save girl, girl dies, boy lives rest of his life in grief of how he didn't manage to save her life.

I don't know if I would. knowing me I'd freeze up,not knowing what to do.
I would like to say "Yes of course, If i love and can't live without him and all that stuff.." But once i'm dead..i'm dead. I can't be with him anymore...he'll live maybe move on after years or whatever...and i'll be dead.
I mean like i'm not saying my life is more important but you have to put yourself first, family and friends next. Theres only so much you can do for others.
I've never been in a situation like that so I can't say.

You do realise people have been committing suicide even before the coming of emo music? Christ, someone tries to kill themselfs, they're an emo all of a sudden....She could have been an emo, BUT there's also a chance that she was a chav, a metalhead or a goth. Hell, she could have been anything. When someone decides to end it all it doesn't automaticaly make them an emo. I find Masali's comment more spot on than your emo comment. Although I do have to admit, I find your picture quite comical.

Ok, back on topic....I'm unsure. I'd probably freeze, end up doing nothing due to me freezing, and she'd die anyway.

I have a slight thought though...what if you try to kill yourself, but don't have the guts to do it....does that make you a bigger coward than if you actualy did kill yourself?

I agree. When you really love someone, there's nothing that you wouldn't do for them. I would risk my life, and more, in the blink of an eye for someone I love. No question about it.

If my loved one would do the same for me, I'd do the same for them. Like you said, you can't think in that second. You'd either go for it or sit there. I know what I'd do because I know how my adrenaline works.
