Macross vs.Gundam

Macross Vs. Gundam. All the characters in both destroy tons of mechs. Who would win? I put my money on Macross because of the support of the ships for the mecha.

In macross they had the SDF which was a ship the size of an entire city that could destroy thousands of Zyndratti warships in a single blast. I don't care how cool gundams are, they wouldn't stand a chance against that thing. Gundam also doesn't have the number of mobile suits that Macross has. Macross would win in sheer numbers and brute force. No matter how ridiculously powerful those stupid Gundam Seed mobile suits are.

well sure they had that but in gundam seed they had GENESIS. GENESIS could bow the moon up or take out a whole state or even country. Plus they also had that one project in alaska that admited microwave beams that made everybody blow up from the heat. (my favorite)

That's exactly why Gundam Seed is such a rip from other Gundam series. I hate Gundam Seed with a passion. Plus...the guys all look like chicks, and the story was basicly stolen from every other mech series. *sigh* Gundam Seed is pretty much a carbon copy of the original Gundam...but with girly guys and too many mobile suits....so many mobile suits that it gets ridiculous.

They did state that it will follow the MSG series since basically it's a retelling of the MSG in a far quicker way.

Actually, Gundam vs Macross would be an incredibly tough call.

Mobile Suits vs Valkyries
The average Mobile Suit does back more firepower in terms of primary weapons (Beam Rifles vs Gun Pods), but a Valkyries is far more manuverable. Although on both sides of this argument there are exceptions. Transformable MS such as the Zeta Gundam could keep up with a VF-1, but would still be small fry compared to the YF-21/VF-22.

I'd still give this to Gundam.

Capital Ships
This is Macross' big advantage, even the likes of the White Base, Archangel, Minerva etc are small fry compared to the heavily armored armadas of Zentradi technology (which was quickly adapted and used in sequl series). Gundam capital ships don't stand a chance.

Uber Weapons
Both Universes have their share of uber weapons, from the Genesis Cannon and the Solar Ray of Gundam to the ultra motherships, and Protodevlin of Macross. This ones I can't decide, so it's a draw.

I would say Gundam could win, but for one main reason: the best pilots in Macross that I have seen are not concerned with fighting, but instead focus on singing. What the heck is that? Newtypes would wipe any pilot from Macross out easily.

Obviously You haven't seen much Robotech/Macross, Shinigami Ichigo.
There's a bunch of pilots who focus souly on the battle at hand.
I think it'd be a tough decision too. The Veritechs are more agile then the Gundams, but one slip up with spell death to the pilot. Where as for the Gundams have more firepower and more at their disposal to use, But they have to keep on their toes and watch their backs else the Veritechs will get them.

I just don't see how you can definitively say that the valkyries (or whatever they are called) are more agile/maneuverable than Gundams. At times, it matters not how good the machine is if the pilot sucks. For example, in 0079, Amuro uses the same mech for the entire show, even winning against more advanced suits. Can you name a single Macross pilot who could beat Amuro/Char/Kamille/Judau/Haman/Scirocco?
