Hurricane Katrina

Katrina is headed toward New Orleans and the city has been evacuated. It is planned to hit early Monday morning and at this moment is a category 5 hurricane.

My prayers and thoughts with all of those who are being evacuated. Let's hope the Big Easy doesn't end up underwater.

I've been hearing about that on the news. Last time I checked, the winds were over 135 mph. =\ .. Wow. Usually, the hurricane's winds die down a little before they reach shore. Seems like this one hasn't yet.

I hope everything turns out alright. >_< .. my thoughts go out to everyone and everything in and around that area.

We're supposed to get hit with the after effects of Katrina later this week. Around Wednesday. I'm wondering how bad that storm is going to be when it reaches around here. =\

Me too.But I think we just get a gigantic storm.I really need to move back to Atlanta.The taxes are too high here too.But that's off topic.

Also, the land elevation there is very low. It's possible some of it could get covered if the storm doesn't slow down. ><

I live five hours north of New Orleans, so I'm pretty much gonna be hit semi-full force by the storm. *runs to get candles and canned foods* I hope New Orleans doesn't end up as a giant fish bowl though. That'd suck.

My thoughts and prayers also go out to everyone who lives out and around Katrina's "path of destruction". Excluding me, of course :P

185?! ... well, I checked at 6:00 PM .. that was about 4 hours ago. So, either it jumped up 50 miles, or I was watching a really bad channel. XD

well it got stronger because of the warm air from the golf cost colliding with the cold air from the north so some tornados will be over there too.

Hmmm.I didn't think of that.This is a collossal problem.If only someone would invent something to break wind(or seperate)inside a hurricane.Yet,we don't have that kind of technology.

Gah, typo. I ment 165. Still, that's a very high number. And I feel sorry for all the people that live WAYYY down south. They're issued a mandatory evacuation of New Orleans. I wouldn't need to be told to leave though if I lived there; something that dangerous I wouldn't hesitate to get away from!

The news here in Venezuela say that the Hurricane reached over 200 miles per hour :S is that true?? Also, I heard that they've issued a Tornado warning somewhere else O_O (although there's been no sign of a Tornado anywhere yet) and that there is a possibility of more hurricanes in the Atlantic ocean (I think that they said they weren't going to reach land, but that there was going to be a really heavy storm).

It seems like all the bad things have been happening these past few years :S - Terrorism in the USA, England and Spain, the Tsunami in Asia, and now the Hurricane(s), maybe Tornadoes, and the eventual flooding because of all the water evaporated by the Hurricane!! >.<

At the moment, there's another hurricane headed on its way down from Africa, but the media is FAR too focus on Katrina at the moment. Last I read, the winds COULD hit up to 200mph, but hopefully that won't happen. The football stadium which was turned into a giant shelter was built to withstand winds of 200mph, so that's a good thing.

Uck! I heard about that in school today. X__x ... yeah, and all of that washing up will cause alot of bacteria and other stuff to form.. New Orleans won't be a very healthy place to be around.. ><

It went down to a catagory 3 earlier today, I heard.
