I made this thread for fighting game fans.Games like Street Fighter, Tekken, Soul Cailbar, Mortal Kombat Games, Gulity Gear X and other fighting games I left out...If you have any strategies or tips for people on how to play better feel free to help. There a lot of people who suck at fighting games so go ahead and help out. Name the best fighting game your good at. Also post a pick of your favorite character on any fighting game.

The best fighting game I am good at is Street Fighter. I love all the street fighter games and I am really good at all them. My favorite street fighter type fighting game has to be Marvel Vs. Capcom 1 & 2. Also like old school street fighters like on Sega or Super Nintendo. My favorite characters have to be Ryu, Chunli and Cammy.

Street Fighter Game Tips: Never stay in one place, I say you move alot when fighting. If your gonna attack make sure the attack hits, punching and kicking at the air makes your character look stupid. Use your super combos when the person/com your fighting is open for a hit( like if they punch or are getting ready to shoot or something) Throw them when they get close enough(I am extremely good at throwing ) Dont forget to block too, blocking is a life saver. Learn your characters and make the perfect team. If your not doing nothing at home pop in the game and create a team and learn all there moves to become the best!

Street Fighter all the way!! It has to be the most popular fighting game.

...How many variations of the title is there anyway? At least 50 i reckon. My Fav would have to be X-Men Vs Street Fighter though, their first venture into tag team and the greatest. It seems like they made Spiderman as the best player in the marvel titles, that annoyed me a bit.

Super Smash Bros. is also a great game. I like Link but sadly I must say Fox is the best character. If you master Fox you will never lose. MY friend is extremely good with Fox.

I only know how to use Samas in that game, and most of my skill in using her came from the N64 version

...they made her mines weaker in Melee, which...also annoyed me. I guess they cant please everyone.

tekken 5 is almost here ...

I would have to say Street Fighter and Tekken are the top two in America right now .... Soul Calibur just kinda comes and goes, its big for awhile and then it dies out. Same for others like Virtual Fighter, Dead or Alive ... ext.

Martial Law would have to be my favorite. I guess he reminds me of Bruce Lee. I feel like Tekken is also good at balancing the characters skills so no one character is greater than the other. It has a lot to do with timing also.

This is blasphemis to the Beat'em'up genre, how in the world could you forget the Dead or Alive series, they're my personal fav. It's fluid gameplay and fast paced which means you don't have to wait like 5 mins before you character make there move like in Tekken! Don't get me wrong Tekken is a good game but it's too slow, way tooo slow, i would jsut get bored waiting for them to attack cause it takes so long, whilst DoA is much different, and is also the first game to utilize the Counter-System effectivly enough to use often and with interactive inviroments and stunning looking characters, not in the sense of looking good but in the graphical sense.

Even though you havn't added Bloody Roar, it is another title i like and enjoy quite a bit, it is original with the transformation sequences and some very inpressive combos, it only really started to get playble on the 3rd game, being more fluid and also had a go at using interactive stages.

Street Fighter - i was considering chosing either this one or Soul Caliber II but chose other instead. This is like thee god of the genre. I grew up on this game alone, whilst other people where playing Mario Allstars i was playing Street Fighter II Turbo all the time. The 3d incanations of this one was a dissapointment, in other words they suck. However with the Alpha series they returned to there roots with the 2-d style with loads of new and interesting characretrs, enter Sakura, being a fav of mine and also ^^; But those noobs that get you cornerd in the classic ones and just do the Thousand hand slaps or the Lightning kick, such a cheap way to win, or people what do that Ha-Do-Ken whatever it's called.

Soul Caliber II - not much to say on this as most people should know about this one. Could be the beat'em'up of the year of 2004 and probally was. The first game was way ahead of all the others beat'em'ups when it was released on the Dreamcast and this one has failed to dissapoint. I still think the characters could be a bit more repsonsive but i like games that are fast paced, saying so it still is faster that most of the others. Weapon master as in the previous games was always fun and time consuming to play, able to obtain new and interesting weapons, with galleries to unlock, hidden characters, stages, just so much to do for a a game of this genre. Which made this game possibly one of the games of this genre that had one of the longest life-spans. Graphics wise, they are amazing. Although once you unlock everything it does get a bit boring especially when no one will play you, it's the same for DoA with me, no one ever wants to face me too much, so i get bored a lot!

Smash Bros - is fun, that's all it is, is a fun game to play with your friends. Nothing much to it, just one of those party games

Guilty Gear - Don't know too much on this one, i havn't played it since it's PS1 days, i like the look of it and also has a good OST, but i'm a bit fuzzy on most of the other details so ima gonna skip this one.

Man... those are all hard choices, perhaps a Capcom vs. GG vs. nintendo vs. soulcalibur..... vs. marvel..... 2.... hehehe.
Under other though there are a bevy of games that are under the radar...
#1 on my list atm is Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring! Made by squaresoft on PSX right near FFVII you can play as Cloud, Tifa, Sephiroth, Yuffie, Vincent, and Zack! Wow! The game is 3D and the levels are multi leveled so you can dodge attacks and initate them from around geography! A must, if you see it buy it!

As for ways to win: you must do what Bruce Lee says and be like water! Don't try and pull off moves, dont force through on a button or the corner or trying to build special or tenstion or what have you. Ya gotta not be where they are attacking but be close enough to swing when they miss. That's all, just dodge!! =P Poke Poke Poke for the W!

Truth is, I never really liked fighting games that much until recently. I played Tekken at a friends, but getting beaten 12 times in a row kinda took the fun out of it. Soul calibur had a slightly better feeling, but it still couldn't overcome the final obstacle.

You see, my sisters are geniuses on the area of button bashing. Give them a controler, say what is punch, what is kick and what is block and they will pound the controler until you are down for the count, and manage to do the hardest combos in the game while working on it!

Now, recently I managed to snag a copy of GGXX2 #Reload, and started practicing. After I found some tricks to keep my sisters away from me, I was finally able to defeat them. This may not sound like such a grand victory to you, but you have never lived down a life of defeat by the hands of two younger siblings. Suffice to say the sensation was.... satisfying.

So my choice goes to Guilty Gear. This game has finaly managed to pull me into the fighting genre, although I continue to curse 3D fighting games. 2D fighting games are the choice for me.

I love fighting games! They are the only type of games that I have mastered, well, maybe not mastered, how about conquored?

I can't say I have any supreme tips, but picking a fast character always seems to work for me. It doesn't exactly matter how strong they are, but if you can get a bunch of hits in before the other player can attack you, your set. But it never hurts to have a really strong character in the mix.......

Oh yeah, I voted for Soul Calibur. ^_^

Ahhhh.. the art of button bashing.. i hate people that do that kinda thing, i have this friend that done that to me and i felt so insulted when i lost, humiliation!! Whenever people win like that i consider it lucky, fluke, nothing more! As they don't even know what they're doing, just mashing in a random combination of buttons in hopes of making a combo or some special hyper powerful energy beam, something along those lines!

??? Tekken is not slow you need to open your eyes and play Tekken more if you think its slow. What Tekken games have you played and what characters did you use? Also what DOA are you talking about?

I've played 1-4 and was refering to them in general, 4 i admit was a bit faster though and what DoA, i was had 3 in mind when posting that although DOA:U is far better. And Tekken characters i use, Ling Xiayo (spelling) is my main one and fav as she is like one of the only ones with fluid movement combos and speed.

Like I said, my sisters are geniuses in that department, wether it be Tekken, Virtua Fighter or Soul Calibur. They somehow manage to twist the joystick and push the buttons at the right time. On the day I bought GGX2 #Reload my youngest sister managed to use Dizzy's Necro anger, wich is one of the hardest if not the hardest combos in the game, and she had no idea of how she did it.

I also enjoy playing dead or alive also. My favorite character is Hayate or Ein. He has to be the best character on the game. I believe dead or alive is like hentai. Dont they have naked pictures in Japan? Well anyways its still cool. I like kicking characters into elephants and off buildings and stuff like that its cool.

They have hentai of everything, Soul Caliber 2, Street Fighter, you name it! But i wouldn't consider DoA as a hentai type game, it's just the clothes have realistic movement that's all. I mean, if a girl wearing a mini-skirt jumps your definatly gonna get see some panties aren't you, it can't be helped, it's physics, blame the laws of gravity if you must play the blame game! And my DoA character of choice, Kasumi and Ayane, the 2 female ninja's, and very fast characters! Most people only pick them for what they wear... how sad...!!

I like playing with Link but once I must say that Fox is sadly the best character in the game. If you master him you will NEVER lose. My friend was super super good with him he master him completely and hardly ever lost a game. Me and this other guy teamed up to beat him and he was just so freaking quick. If we standed still his laser beams would he us and they dont cause you to move the damage either. Plus if we both tried to hit him at the same time we would end up attacking each other.
