    Default How do you sleep?

    i've been having many sleepless nights lately, my mind wanders and i think about the whole day, what could've happened, what did happen, what did'nt happen, the consequences off all this, and its hard to control it and just go to sleep.
    so i was wandering, when your mind wanders, how do you keep it under control?
    here i sit up broken hearted,

    If I have a hard time going to sleep, I usually slip on my earphones and listen to classical music and just let my mind relax.

    And if that doesn't work..then it's meditation time for about an hour. That will empty out all thoughts and you concentrate on only peaceful, tranquil thoughts.

    And if THAT doesn't work..then a handy 2x4 upside my skull usually does the trick in the end.

    If I can't get to sleep I put on some classical music or jazz. The only downside to this is that when I wakeup in the morning my ipod is completly out of batteries. If you can't stand classical or jazz then I suggest reading before going to bed, always helps me clear my mind.

    General Sleep:
    I try to sleep in the most comfortable position available to me: on my side. My brother tells me sleeping on your back increases the probability of getting nightmares, which I've found to be about 90% true, and it's also bad for those with sleep apnea.

    For Sleepless Peeps:
    -Focus on any sound you can hear, then one by one tune each out.
    -Think about all of the things that make you happy.
    -Wear warm clothes to bed.
    -Have something with the scent of lavender close by (if not a spray on your pillow like my mother has). Do NOT use candles though... (fire?)
    -Imagine yourself sleeping.
    -Trick I discovered at a camp that's kind of like self hypnosis: Repeat the word relax in your head until you feel kind of tired, then repeat sleep until...well your asleep.

    ^_^ Those are the tricks that work for me, and I'm the kind of person that used to stay up until 3 in the morning in deep thought.

    I run 9 miles a day minimum (15 at most). I can sleep whenever and whereever I so choose to. My problem tends to be not falling asleep. Caffiene is my solution.

    Ahaha this is going to sound weird...but I had that problem HUGE problem really. I had a friend who was into yoga and such and she lent me a relaxation tape. I dunno if it would help you, it kind of helped me...now I'm just out right away XD

    Mostly what it is, is a tape you listen to that tells you to concentrate and then to relax....I dunno it's hard to explain but it makes me very sleeping listening to it lol.

    Other than that...try to do something that will make you tired like work out or do a sport of some sort which uses a lot of adrenaline.
    If that doesn't work you can try..well having a really hot bath 0.o XD lol

    Hope that helped...and wasn't as creepy as it sounded to me haha

    i used to have this problem when i was really stressed out...

    -try focusing on your breathing
    -read a book for a little while before trying to go to bed
    -listen to some music (preferably music with no words or songs that you don't know the words to. Otherwise you'll be up all night saying the words in your head...or out loud..o.o)
    -stretch before you go to bed
    -a little exercising never hurts ^-^
    -drink some milk! (i don't like hot drinks too much so you don't have to heat it up if you don't want to...i've heard warm milk makes you tired but cold milk does the same to me...)

    I might have forgotten a few tricks, but there are some to work with!! =D

    Water puts me to sleep instantly. I don't know why, but it does. If you have trouble sleeping...reach for a bottle of water. =}

    Um...for me, I usually just fall asleep once my head hits the pillow. But sometimes I often just think of things that had happened to me in the course of one day. Then I think of a recent event that might've made me happy and then I'd dwell on that thought and make up some sort of dream from it. XD

    SLEEP! damn it! that was my biggest problem for about a year! i wont go to sleep till 4am! >_< i go to bed at 12am and wont sleep til 4am! I STRESS OVER SLEEP NOW! >_<

    but anyways now i've gone a little better by listening to ayumi before going to bed ^_^
    i'm a night crawler so i'm always wide awake around 2am ^_^
    oh and closing my eyes and think of nothing doesn't work for me! i've tried it but after awhile i just start stressing cause i can't be normal and sleep! >_<

    PM if you can find something that will help me sleep! thanks~~ (note i've tired hot baths, lavender crap, running around to make me tired)

    I suggest what The Wing Man said, TV. Watch some dumb boring stupid show, it helped me get to sleep. It works with movies also. If you have any movies you don't like.

    Though one should do that during the day, not in the middle of night if one finds themselves unable to sleep. You should be passive a good couple of hours (I think four hours is recommended) before you go to bed.

    I sleep just fine I listen to some 3 6 mafia and watch some Robot Chicken then go to sleep and dream about the random stuff I dream about.... I only have sleepless nights when my Grandma from out of town comes she scares me I swear she is watching me while I sleep X__X
