This predates the Disney cartoon. Disney may have had better art and better technology, but the Fleischers had Cab Calloway. Rolland Crandall handled the animation. Notice how he was able to get Koko the Clown to duplicate Calloway's dance moves. This is classic.
I first saw this particular cartoon in a theater which was running a program on the Fleischer studio. The program called their films "acid trips in pen and ink." That always stuck with me.
