New York, April 28, 2016 – NBCUniversal, a division of Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCSA), today announced the acquisition of DreamWorks Animation (NASDAQ: DWA). One of the world's most admired family brands, DreamWorks Animation creates animated feature films, television series and specials, live entertainment and related consumer products. The studio will become part of the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, which includes Universal Pictures, Fandango, and NBCUniversal Brand Development.

Personally I'm excited about this. Illumination Entertainment (Universals Animation Studios) and Dreamworks make really great films such as Rise of the Guardians with stellar animation and creativity or Despicable Me with marketing and merchandise to where everyone loves the Minions. Despite this sometimes they just fall short when going up against Disney/Pixar in one way or another. I really hope this merger of animation studios brings new fresh perspective with two already great studios in their own right.

I am already jumping for joy for what the future holds in the realm of animation Feature Films

This will be interesting to see what they come up with for their first truly joint venture together. Each entity by themselves gives Disney/Pixar a run for their money each time they release a new film, together they may force Disney/Pixar to up their game more.
