DDR (Dance Dance Revolution)

Being a long time fan of the original series. I could help but notice the decline of the series both in popularity and quality of the games. (Especially in the U.S) Are there any of you guys who remember it? What's your opinion on it? (I myself haven't played the game in two or three years. Aside from the arcade stationed on my college campus every now and then. I remember when there used to be lines.)

I used to play all the time, but I think the popularity decline came when the next gen consoles came out PS3 since there was not alot of compatability with the system and the old games. Even if you had a Backwards compatible system it was still very very difficult to make it work properly. I had pretty much every DDR game for the PS2 and even bought Arcade Pads for my own personal use.

Yeah I had all the DDR games for PS2, but when the PS3 and Xbox 360 released I think that's when it started to decline. Hell I think they don't have many DDR games in many arcades anymore, yes they have similar games but I don't quite think all of them are the DDR series of dancing games.

Well I've seen it at some of my local arcades or movie theaters but some have switched it out with some other dance machine it seems.

yea i Know what you mean it is harder and harder to find it in arcades and now I am too fat and slow to play like I used to.

Lol, funny to see this. I just played some DDR with my circle of friends just last week or so. My friend's boyfriend only had one metal arcade pad that worked, but it was still fun taking turns. The cool thing is, they had a database of every available song on their computer, so we could play the JP exclusive ones and even some fanmade ones.

I used to play DDR all the time as a kid when I went to arcades. An arcade visit was pointless unless I spent at least 10 minutes playing it. Then again, I didn't go to the arcade very often, so even though I played it when I could, I still never got that good at it.

When I was a teenager, I got preoccupied with school and dramatic family stuff, so I had less time (and money) to go by the arcade. I also became a lot less active, so my dad tried getting me one of those cheap knock-off dance games, with the flimsy plastic pads. It was a good gesture and all, but it was pretty much a ripoff. Lousy song selection, unresponsive/glitchy mats, etc. So needless to say I hardly ever used it.

If I had my own metal arcade pad, I don't think I'd ever be out of shape. Man, I'd probably play that more often than any of my other videogames tbh.

Yea my wife and I played it a lot. I got to the point where I could play on Extreme but no further.

They need a DDR reboot, then they need to put new machines in everywhere. I'd be hyped for that.

@Kirito I know it was totally Dope. I would pull out the ole PS2 and then hook up my pads. It was great. They even came with the back arm rest, but I did not install those. Cause real DDR CHAMPS don't need a moment to rest.
