    Default Classical Music

What are some of you favourite classical tracks? Post Bach, Mozart, Pachabel and other classical music here.

And if anyone dares to post Lindsey Stirling I will strike down the hammer of justice. (Seriously)

Just keep it to classical music please.

    Some Bach to start off.

    And have some Beethoven.

What about a little Mozart hm?

A classic among classics you say? Okay then.

    And a bit of Pachabel.

What's wrong with Lindsey Stirling? I love her as a violinist. You didn't exactly define what classical was but Lindsey Stirling is a classical-crossover so by technical means she can count somewhat. After all the violin IS a classical instrument.

So are we talking about classical music from the classical period only or are we talking about classical music in general thus modern classical music counts too? You didn't specify so I'm going to include modern classical music played via classical instruments.

    Personally I love listening to:
Saint-Saëns - Le carnaval des animaux
Tchaikovsky -Dance Of The Sugarplum Fairy - this personally is one of my all time favorite tunes. It's very relaxing.
Chopin is also another from the classical time period I can enjoy listening to. He has too many tunes that I like to really name off any.
(Piano tune - Modern) Maxence Cyrin- Where Is My Mind

    Just to name a few.
Also for any members interested we have a classical & jazz group here on AF http://www.animeforum.com/group.php?groupid=524

Oh it was a joke. Sort of. You're allowed to like Lindsey Stirling but it's not the kind of music that belongs in this topic.
Personally i don't like Lindsey Stirling because in my opinion she butchers songs and puts more emphasis on the dubstep (which I don't like) combined with the fact that she's overhyped. She is (too) showy and that puts me off. It kills the experience for me. Also that blatant advertising in her videos makes me feel sick.

Combine that with the cheap and clichè 90's dance music style of hers and it's enough to make me avoid it. Yet everyone seems to think she's amazing because it's an attractive girl awkwardly dancing around with a violin and m-muh dubstep. Playing a violin doesn't make it classical music.

It's not like she's bad. She's just mediocre. And everyone including herself thinks she's the second coming of music. And that just makes me hate her. But enough of that,

    Have some Wagner:

Playing a violin IS classical music.
And your taste differs from others, I suppose. Personally, I would fall asleep 10 minutes in a professional performance by an orchestra. I pay my respect by not being there.

No. That's not true at all. A piano is a classical instrument. So all music played with a piano is now classical music? That's silly.

Classical music is art music produced or rooted in the traditions of Western music (both liturgical and secular). It encompasses a broad period from roughly the 11th century to the present day.[1] The central norms of this tradition became codified between 1550 and 1900, which is known as the common practice period.

Given the extremely broad variety of forms, styles, genres, and historical periods generally perceived as being described by the term "classical music," it is difficult to list characteristics that can be attributed to all works of that type. Vague descriptions are plentiful, such as describing classical music as anything that "lasts a long time," a statement made rather moot when one considers contemporary composers who are described as classical; or music that has certain instruments like violins, which are also found in other genres. However, there are characteristics that classical music contains that few or no other genres of music contain.[8]

Marco D'Ambrosio is my favorite composer, but i'm not sure he entirely fits the "classical" brand. he did the soundtrack for Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, which is jaw dropping.

seriously, if that song doesn't give you goosebumps, you are dead inside.

There is something to be said for symphonic music, whether or not it can be considered strictly classical. Take an orchestral arrangement of Tarkus:

Really, I just enjoy large and (relatively) complex compositions, both for the skill it takes to write them and the skill needed to play them. Whether those arrangements use three pieces or several dozen, and similarly without regard for the provenance of the instruments' design or musicians' training, it's impressive when done well.
