The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3DS is one of the most anticipated titles in the Zelda series that fans want to experience on Nintendo’s current handheld system. But will Zelda fans see Majora’s Mask 3DS hit retailer shelving and the Nintendo eShop some time in the near future? According to a Canadian Target employee, labels have already been printed for the game and slapped onto display shelving under the title The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3DS — complete with a functional inventory bar code and placeholder information for the price and release date.

Key Nintendo developer Takashi Tezuka recently revealed that he would personally like to be able to enjoy a Majora’s Mask 3DS remake. One month ago today, Grezzo, the developer who worked on Ocarina of Time 3D for Nintendo 3DS, recently posted two job listings for the development of a “Legend” title. And within the past two weeks, Shigeru Miyamoto even revealed that Nintendo still has unannounced 3DS projects in the works for the Zelda series.

It doesn’t take a puzzle-solving, green garb-wearing, ruby-collecting Hylian kiddo to figure out that The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3DS is on the way. The question is, when will the moon rise to reveal the beauty?

I think the release date on the picture is a dummy release date since nothing is officially announced. GameStop does the same thing with their website when games are announced but the release date is not known, they push the release date to 12/31/2014 since it's the last day of the year. Then when release dates are confirmed they change it.

This is ridiculously silly, everybody. Games do not get 'leaked' in this way. The only way I've ever seen a retailer leak a game is by listing it online, and even still, I've only ever seen that happen with US games like The Sims Expansion Packs.

IF they make a Majora's Mask 3D, the first we'll be hearing of it will be through a Nintendo Direct or other conference. Simple.

Meh. A Majora's Mask remastered port would be lame, anyway. I'd much rather see it get a REAL remake on the Wii U. That would be quite a treat.

Not gonna happen. The prequel was on 3DS. The only logical thing is to have the sequel on the 3DS as well. And frankly I like it that way.

I never said it had any real chance of happening, I'm just saying that it would be much better that way.

Loving both OOT and Majora's Mask, and preferring Majora's Mask (it's my favorite Zelda title overall, actually), I found OOT3D to be a complete and total waste of my money. And even though I love Majora's Mask, I'm not going to rush out and buy a 14 year old game with the only real difference being a couple of new models here and there and fancy redone textures.

I don't care about precedence, MM being a sequel to OOT. OOT3D was a cheap cash-in, and really OOT needs a real remake down the line, too. I can't believe that "the best game ever" only got updated with a remastered port. But people still bought it, so I guess that's all that matters in Nintendo's mind... Money.

The problem is that when it comes to remakes of classic, the 'fans' (aka the people that bought/played/mastered the original game) have a tendency to go absolutely ballistic if any of the core gameplay is altered in any way. They'll complain that all they wanted was 'the original game but better', if Nintendo did something like gave Link a manual jump or changed how combat worked.

In that regard, changing absolutely nothing except the graphics was probably what the general populace of people interested in OOT wanted. On the other hand, I would have asked for a few 'bonus levels' as some new content or something. Kinda like how Mario 64 DS added some new levels/challenges and different characters with different attributes. I hated the characters at first, because 'I had to collect caps to be able to use a certain character to get somewhere' and 'Yoshi couldn't play Big Boo's Mansion at all', but eh...

Real nice opinions. If that's how you think about it then why did you buy the game? You knew exactly what you were getting. I played the game and personally I love it. It's a way for younger players to experience one of the most creative games of that era. Without Link between worlds for GBA I would have never played that game, while it's an all time favorite of mine. So yeah.

They aren't making you buy the game. You chose to buy it.

There is much appeal in remastered games. Take Kingdom Hearts for example. I never got to play the originals since I never had the consoles to play them, I do however have a ps3. Plus Kingdom Hearts 2.5 looks nicer remastered and it's very appealing to me. You seem to forget that the game IS 14 years old therefor not many people even have means to play it. I'm the last remaining person within my group of friends who has a functional SNES and N64. The systems are a dying breed, the game is also a dying breed. However it's a great game, and should have the chance to come out on a newer system. If on a newer system I'd like the graphics to be updated enough to reflect that however I'd want the gameplay to be left absolutely 100% alone.

They could at least completely reimagine and redo the graphics to give them a whole new aesthetic with incredibly minor changes thrown in elsewhere. OOT3D just isn't even enough of a graphical upgrade to have a passing grade. Everything still looks the same with a couple of new models thrown in, and then Twilight Princess-like textures pasted over it all.

Besides, for those who are so worried about changing it from the original, why do they even care? They have Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask available on the modern console in their original form (Virtual Console). It shouldn't matter to them.

You speak of Kingdom Hearts, but Kingdom Hearts is a completely different matter. Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 are BUNDLES. They both come with two games, plus a third done in cinematics. On top of that, they add content never before released in the West, and then they remade the soundtracks with live orchestration.

I don't mind HD remaster bundles like Kingdom Hearts, they are still cash-ins, but they provide much greater incentive, have much more content covered, and ultimately are much more worth the price... Taking in mind that Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix had everything I mentioned above, and yet somehow still cost less than Wind Waker HD. And I mean, in Kingdom Hearts 2.5's case they're taking a portable game and bringing it up to the par of the PS2 KH games with HD touchups.

I personally believe that a release is going to happen, regardless of this 'leak'. If you have played Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, another 3DS title, then most likely you encountered the Majora's Mask inside the shop.

Besides the reference in a Zelda game, Zelda Williams, someone who has had ties to Nintendo and specifically to The Legend of Zelda franchise before, also teased a Majora's Mask remake before E3 2014.

Furthermore, at the NYCC (New York Comic Con), Eiji Aonuma also teased the possibility of a Majora's Mask remake in a Q&A.

Fan: First off, I want to say that A Link Between Worlds looks awesome. My question is kind of a shot in the dark: I like when Zelda gets really gritty and dark. I know you produced Wind Waker and this new game, but I wonder if you have any information on Majora's Mask at all, because that was my all-time favorite Zelda game. (Crowd cheers). Please say you'll make this [for] Wii U.
