Considering Joining a club

Only been at this school for three years, so I decided its about time to join a club and (possibly) make some new friends. I went to one of those club showcases where they show you all the clubs the school has to offer. Unfortunately there wasn't any automotive/motorsports club, so now I'm looking into the anime club they have here. Not really sure what to expect, but I'm really hoping its not like the one that was in my highschool. I accidently walked into one of their meetings, and literally all it was was a bunch of dudes who I didn't even know went to my school watching that kids pony show in the dark, then trying to convince me to watch it/take dvds home with me. Nothing against people who are into that sorta stuff, but personally I don't like people forcing their opinions on me. Should I expect different at a school of higher learning, or are all the clubs pretty much like this? I'm into automotive and fighting animes, but still pretty open to whatever else is out their except that pony stuff. Just not my thing..

Just go check it out. Worst case scenario: it's a bunch of nerds watching MLP. Hell, that's not even the worst case. It could be a bunch of nerds with boners watching Sailor Moon.

I didn't even think of that worse case scenario lol. Seriously though, just hope its a chill club where you can watch some stuff, maybe play some video games, and occasionally hit up a bar or two in the city.

I figure most clubs are just the gatherings to bring like minded people together (much like this forum.) See if any one or few members like the same stuff and go from there. Plus you can always find some new things you like.

Never had clubs or anything like that at my school, so I'm not sure how it works. But you could also just trail it, if you don't like it then leave?
