What got you into anime?

Just wondering what got you guys into anime :P

For me I just checked out Naruto from when I was a kid and ended up watching all sorts of things.

It's been awhile and I don't quite remember, but I think its because DBZ, I shall the action and was hooked.

A friend who was a big fan of anime got me to watch Angel Beats with him. Great introduction to anime series. Been hooked since.

It gotta be around seven or eight years since a friend introduced me to Naruto. I was hooked. It sorta just evolved from there.

Now I dont really watch anime much, only keeping myself updated on the One Piece and Naruto manga. Gotta know how it ends even thou I lost interest.

First time I visit this forum in two years even. Yay!

..Actually I just renewed my interest when me and some friends stumbled onto Attack on Titan. Damn that first episode was good!

when i was about ten something called Escaflowne started playing on my saturday morning cartoon block. i was instantly enticed and started seeking out anime.

That was my first anime too.

I have my brother to thank for showing me awesome anime. But what got me interested was a game called Corpse Party I was playing at the time

I remember when I was like 8 or something, I was visiting my brothers in San Francisco. Me, being my unsociable, easily bored younger self, I sat in front of the TV and started flipping through channels. After a few minutes I came across the episode of Pokémon where Ash gets abducted by Aerodactyl. I'd never watched the show before, but I was instantly hooked. Then I started watching shows and movies with similar animation (Ghibli movies, Akira, DBZ, etc). And eventually anime and manga became a hobby. Nearly 15 years later and I still haven't grown out of anime (or Pokémon), and I probably never will.

Honestly, I started watching watered down episodes of Dragonball and other anime on Toonami way back in the early 2000's... I think that coupled with my fasination with manga at the time got me hooked. I've been watching it ever since, although recently there has been a pause, I'd love to pick up some new series or start where I left off with some. Attack on Titan is definitely high on my list once I get a chance to watch some in between full time school and full time work x.x

Not many anime were broadcasted in my country so as a kid (a time I didn't even know they were Japanese)
I watched several popular late 80s~early 90's series:

-Sailor Moon
-Dragonball
-Anime Sanjoushi
- Haidi
- Maya the bee
- Calimero
- Legend of Galactic Heroes

and other old stuff
I was also lured by Digimon at some point because of the incredible music written by the late Arisawa Takanori (also written the music for sailor moon, simon and other series)

so that was until late 90s when school caught up and I didn't pay much of attention on TV
in 2001 a friend who was into anime he introduced me to Evangelion it took me until 2005 to actually be able to get around episodes online, and in 2006 I thought to rewatch the oldies I grew up with, dragonball and sailor moon, and then watched around 150 series, after that around 2008 got into musicals (musicals of anime series) and then theatre became more important to me

as a kid I had 3 different choices, disney, WB, anime, I stayed with anime and some WB (looney toons) I preferred them for aesthetic reasons and plots.

there was beast wars,teenage mutian ninja turtles,gargoials then i stoped watching anime for a while then i found a copy of fruits basket at the library and that revived the anime flame for me
