Anime like Code Geass, Mirai Nikki, Guilty Crown?

CG is without a doubt my favorite. Everything runs smooth; the storyline, the characters and the action are all mixed up perfectly. I found Mirai Nikki and Guilty Crown pretty similar, though I disliked the protagonist in MN, a stupid whining kid who keeps crying and complaining without doing actually grozit. Other than that, everything was pretty entertaining.

I am searching for something alike those three, I like the psychological war CG has and also the complexity of the characters: C.C. from Code Geass for being so misterious and yet revealing her so easily, Lelouch for his incredible deductive ability and Yuno from Mirai Nikki for being able to shift from the overly attached girl to the killing maniac and back, something which made the anime far more interesting that I had firstly thought.

I personally dislike romance being the main plot in an anime (had the bad luck to watch Infinite Stratos and Sankarea). Code Geass mixes that really awesome (refering to the Shirley - Lelouch relationship; it's perfectly balanced and integrated into the storyline).

I also liked Elfen Lied and Death Note, both great anime (story-wise). Highschool of the Dead had much potential from the first episode, but ended up pretty much as a disappointment.

I would prefer to see suggestions with a small description of the anime, as well as the similarities to the ones stated above. I would also enjoy discussions about these anime, so feel free to add me on skype (illidan_hunterr) and maybe here too.

Alot of people agree with this, I personally enjoyed it. But it's been awhile since I've seen it and my memory is vague so I can't defend it. I did hear they were making a sequel or a prequel for the anime. I don't remember if it was a manga, novel, game, anime or what though.

I would suggest Deadman Wonderland, but you stated how you disliked Yuki, so I don't know how you would react to Ganta, but then Deadman Wonderland is quite a bit likt Miraii Nikki. I recommend D.GrayMan, its light and easy and the start, but the story just twists and twists later on. Darker Than Black is pretty dark, which I suppose is what you would like, a bit detached though. I liked Wolf's Rain, its dark and twisty and deep. I liked Hyouka as well, its intelligent, Houtarou comes second to Lelouch.

On the other hand, I would like to know if you like tragedy? I think we share something in common.

I tried watching Deadman Wonderland twice, but I couldn't go past the 2nd episode. It just seemed to unrealistic: a 12-13 yo kid gets jailed for something which looks impossible to be done by himself, a strange girl pops up in a prison and no one cares, she doesn't even think rationally; that completly filled the bottle for me and decided to stop watching.

I also watched Darker Then Black until around episode 17 and I kinda enjoyed it, though the story kinda causes confusion. Swiching between progatonists, 1 of them dies, another one shows up... but I guess that made the anime entertaining in the first place, so I'm gonna finish it in the close future.

I'm pretty sure I watched a couple of D.GrayMan episodes on Animax, not sure what to say though. Heard of Wolf's Rain, will try.

And yes, I like tragedy and drama; the enjoyment reaches its peak when they are all mixed up into an awesome storyline.

I've tried Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, I like the mix between darkness and innocence, but flying flowers and pink trees are too much for me.

Didn't enjoy Wolf's Rain at all, most boring series so far.

Finished watching Darker than Black, far more entertaining than expected.

Edit: I think I forgot to mention realism is also an important factor for me.
