Default Why do people set their clocks/watches in advance?

I don't own a watch, nor I want to own one. First, it's because looking at a watch now and then makes me feel that time gets slower (especially at work). Second, it itches my skin.

That's why I always have to rely on other people's watches. But unfortunately, time is not the same for everyone. So I had to look around (especially in the train) to check people's watches, then get an average, so I could guess what time it is. Of course it's not pretty accurate, that's why I wish people should just set their watches in the correct time.

I used to have a watch I only wore for work. It was always 5 minutes behind because I couldn't figure out how to correct it so I personally knew to add 5 minutes to the time displayed whenever I looked. It was my watch so only I had to know that info

If you make your clock past the time it is supposed to be, you'll never be late. If I'm understanding correctly anyway. Use a phone for time or get a pocket watch.

My old wristwatch I always had deliberately set 5 minutes forwards - again, as said above, so that I wouldn't be late. Even if you know it's five minutes ahead, it instinctively makes you believe you're late and causes you to hurry up. It made sure I didn't miss my buses.

The only problem is that it's old so after a few weeks it would start running ahead. Last time it worked it had gone from being five minutes ahead to 12. The battery died in it a week or two ago, though. I need to go get a new battery in it.

... Also I'd feel awkward as all hell asking randoms for the time. I know it shouldn't be, but it makes me feel weird asking or being asked. I have an old phone that I keep on me that I use to check the time, though.

I'd just look around the area for the time, your bound to find the time. You could also have the feel of the time looking outside. At least I have a good sense of time when I do that. I would keep a phone/watch though for exact times, though. Don't want to assume the time or look around for it when you have to go at a certain time. If you don't prefer watches, then keep any kind of phone on you at all times, so you won't have to ask around for it.
