This is going to sound odd, but I've always seen Hufflepuff as a very "fluffy" house. Like a dog with soft fur or a fuzzy pillow. Slytherin seems "cold" like a piece of metal left in a snow storm. Gryffindor seems "hard" like a wall or a rock. Ravenclaw seems "light" and "Float-y?" kind of like a feather or a cloud.
The Sorting Hat says on two different occasions that Helga Hufflepuff took the leftover students.
Good Hufflepuff, she took the rest
and taught them all she knew
and
"Said Hufflepuff, "I'll teach the lot
And treat them just the same."
Maybe she only said that because she was last to state her choice? She felt bad for them? What would she say if she had gone first?
I know how this will sound and I dont mean to imply it to any person who took the test and was sorted as a Hufflepuff but I always thought they were Ravenclaw's opposite in the way Slytherin and Gryffindor were opposites. So I thought Hufflepuff was probably the least intelligent and Ravenclaw probably the least loyal. Like nothing comes easy for a Hufflepuff student they have to work harder at everything.
@IluvAllison
In principle I agree with it because its good humanitarianism. But for the books I think it makes them a little boring :'''(
Does that mean you wanted the Hufflepuffs to be another established house with defined characteristics?
Somehow though I feel this Hufflepuff idea of thinking goes along with JK Rowling's ideas. Judging by her themes (among others) of racism for example. I dont know I just get that vibe when thinking of Harry Potter. Hogwarts is the kind of school that would welcome everyone, especially when Dumbledore was the headmaster. This is quite apparent through the books I feel.

Which was the point I was trying to make earlier. Just way better worded. Ty =D

It's something I expect to see. Say if I was sorted in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw, I'm fine with either or.
hella
Would have been nice if this were a poll thread. Oh well...
Ravenclaw, just because I like names that are derivatives of birds, that's all. :P

I always take tests asking what house I am in. So far, the results I have gotten are exactly 12 Ravenclaw, 12 Slytherin. So... I really have no idea.

So here is my score :3
Gryffindor - 11
Slytherin - 11
Ravenclaw - 10
Hufflepuff - 10
I guess I have my choice between Gryffindor and Slytherin, Slytherin it is.

It was probably the punch the big guy in the face question that did it.
ein, zwei, drei, vier bin endlich weg von Dir
fünf, sechs, sieben, acht Du hast jetzt keine Macht
