That's a hard one and I'm afraid I can't answer that. So, I will give you my favourites!
Favourite female: Haruhi Fujioka
I don't really like female characters in anime much, so that was easy xD
Now to the hard part...
Favourite males (in no general order):
1. Takano Masamune
2. Kisa Shouta
3. Ichigo Kurosaki
4. Renji Abarai
5. Kyoya Otori
There are many more, but I can't decide...

Yeah I couldn't choose just one.
-Tohru Honda (Fruits Basket) - Because she always stays strong and positive no matter what life throws her way.
-Aoi-chan (Ai Yori Aoishi) - Because she is so sweet and elegant, and works so hard to make her man happy.
-Rangiku Matsumoto (Bleach) - I love her fun-loving, relaxed attitude, and the fact that she loves to drink!
-Misuzu Kamio (Air) - Because she is just so CUTE!!
-Princess Euphemia (Code Geass) - Because she is kind and gentle and sees things a little differently from those around her

I guess I like these girls cos I can see a little of myself in each of them.

I couldn't pick just one. Some I like are:

Vegeta (DBZ)- I like him because I like how he has to work for everything like ssj forms while it comes easy to Goku.
Kamina (Gurren Lagann)- I like how he is able to make the best out of even the worst situation and that he doesn't run even when things get bad.
Spike (Cowboy Bebop)- I just like how Spike can be so carefree in any situation that happen
Domon Kasshu( G Gundam)- I like how he grows throughout the series from a man full of anger to a warrior that learns how to forgive everyone for their wrong doings.
Vash (Trigun)- I like how he can be so carefree and not let anything bother him and that he can act serious and protect everyone when the time comes.

Honestly, I'd have to say my favorite character is Katsura Kotarou (Gintama). He gets the rep of being the idiotic character but he's not really that stupid. Sure he's as dense as wood with very little common sense, but his intelligence isn't failing in the slightest. In the past he's come up with a lot of rather elaborate plans and put them into action. True, he gets carried away sometimes and does a lot of very strange things. He's a rather unique character, in my opinion.

Okay well that's all I'll type since I'd probably go into a rant if I didn't stop myself.

I have sooooooo many characters to choose from! I gotta say that my two most favorite anime characters are Miharu Rokujo from Nabari no Ou (obviously) and Homura Akemi from Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
