2013 Conventions

Just wondered what conventions everyone is planning on going to this year and if you are cosplaying for any of them? =]

I'm going to Gemucon(Nottingham,UK) in April and MCM London in May and October.
I might look into going to France as well.

As for cosplaying, I'm going in a Sword Art Online mini-group. I'll be Asuna, my boyfriend is going as Kirito and my mum is going as Sakuya. That is if any of us have the time to make costumes haha!

So how about you guys, any plans? =]

I'll try to attend Metrocon this year. I've worked there for the past.... 4 or 5 years now? I can't remember how long it's been. But last year I made a promise to just relax and enjoy the next convention. Of course now I'll probably just be roaming the halls alone but it's cool with me I guess. I'll offer my assistance if I get too bored.

I volunteered as an usher/security first year.. Then they were just like "yo, join our crew" and became strictly ballroom [main events] usher following 3 years. Though the 3rd year I was usher/the trainer for our new ballroom manager. I had to give him the rundown of the most efficient way for everyone in the ballroom to do their jobs and what to expect etc. etc. Worked out well cause we didn't have any incidents the last two years. Legit.

I'm going to Kitsunekon (small local convention) and Anime Central. It's going to be my first year at Acen. Got my badge and hotel booked. Also signed up for the masquerade. Pretty much good to go. Read up on -alot- of stuff about that con since it's huge compared to Kitsunekon (of which only had like 1300 people for our second year, still growing though ^^). Cosplaying Lulu from Final fantasy X, using my Silent hill 2 nurse cosplay and POSSIBLY doing a female spike spiegel. D: Dunno if i'll have everything i need for Spike though. I have the costume finished and plan on ordering the wig next week via some points on arda's site (getting it for free practically). I was able to make the spike outfit because of a huge sale at Hancock fabrics and i had a $25 gift card from xmas. I think i ended up spending a total of $7 of my own cash on it lol. Just would need the airsoft gun but dunno if i wanna make that purchase since i'll need money for Acen. x.x I'll see what happens i guess.

I'm 100% definitely sure I'll be at Anime Boston and Another Anime Convention this year. My bro juuuuust booked the hotel for Boston, and we're stoked. Still kind of undecided on PortConMaine at this point, and even if I do go, I'd probably only hang around for Saturday.

As for cosplay, I will be going as Sakamoto Tatsuma (Gintama), Fran (Katekyo Hitman Reborn!), and Maria (Arakawa Under the Bridge). Outside of Sakamoto's geta (which one of my brothers is crafting for me), I'm completely finished making my cosplays. I am good to go and ready; I just have to wait four months and save up money to spend in the dealer room. c:

Anime Boston seems really cool. I was almost able to go once as I was travelling up to NYC at that time, but I wasn't able to go haha. =]

I just heard that the dates for Hyper Japan have just been announced for this summer. I might see if I can get a table there. Anyone visiting it? =]

I'm gonna be at acen too! Last year, someone switched the fire alarm.. cutting off the time for the masquerade. I hope it doesn't happen again this year! >_<
Going as Luigi from super mario bros. on friday and saturday. I'll be there on day zero but not in cosplay.

That's so cool...I might even see you guys! I'm going to MCM in May too
Also, I'm going to Alcon in DMU Leicester later in the year
For MCM I'm cosplaying as Soi Fon (with a twist) and Romano (South Italy from Hetalia) another day.

@Jasanime Can't wait to see the cosplay! I just googled her and I love her dress and her hair, I bet you'll look great!
@Albear Oh wow =S I've been to tons of cons but never seen anything like that happen. Luigi is cool =D sometimes they have a Luigi and Mario at MCM that are hired to be there, they can't see out of their costumes though so get lead all round the hall haha.

Once you are there, the nervous feeling will go away. It's that fun.

I'm considering making my debut to the anime convention world at this years, Supanova (Sydney, Australia). At this point I'm torn between going as Kyon (The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) or as Keima (The world god only knows).
