Practicing with brushes?

I only really use brushes for clipping masks, so it's weird seeing them used as just brushes. Not sure fif I can offer any advice there
I think everything in this tag would work if the background were different. It's not -bad- it just looks weird compared to the rest of the sig.

Ah man, I haven't used brushes by themselves in such a long time. I really just use them for smudging and stuff now. Have you tried getting into smudging yet? If not you should add it to your bucket list of things to learn ^_^

Otherwise the signature with the brushing is okay. I may be a little too bright but that's just my opinion. I'm glad to see you try something new though.

I have! There's one in my main thread, I really only know how to do one type of smudge though :'( Hopefully I'll do more.

I'm terrible at digital art and am only just learning about brushes so I can't really give you any helpful advice/criticism. =[
So, I'm just writing to say that I love the potential in this piece.
It doesn't quite feel finished because the background looks sort of like guidelines (it's so simple and plain) but the character is so carefully drawn and coloured. The two don't seem to match. But I love what you have done with the black brushes and splashes around and on the character. It adds excitement to the piece.
I especially love what you have done in the top right corner. I'd be interested to see how you develop this technique. =]
