I absolutely love coffee, but I've been drinking tea for far longer so I'll go with it. Especially because of the recent studies that I've read about how drinking Green Tea can prevent disease.

Tea or coffee- Consider the history;

Tea- Chinese Emperor Shen Nong, was chilling under a tree, boiling some water so it became pure to drink. Suddenly there was a light breeze and a few leaves were blown off the tree and floated down into his pot of boiling water. Being a curious man, the Emperor weighed up his options- taste it and risk death (who knows what those leaves contained) or taste the changing water. He opted to taste it- and curiosity was paid off.

Coffee- Some goat herder was herding goats and came across some coffee beans.

Tea gets my vote.

Okay well I wasn't making a big historically accurate point, Eris, I was having a little fun. And I'm pretty sure neither tea or coffee shaped democracy, but rather the people who drank them.
