My brother is very selfish. He can't stand to let certain types of people have anything. Sometimes I just think those are the type of people that make the world such a shitty place you know?

The only time he even talks to my parents is for money, food, or something else.

I've never even done anything to my brother beyond rude, and he still treats me like complete crap unworthy of things other people are worthy of.

Apparently you would all really hate him, because he also acts like that's not who he is.

People who hate people are disillusioned idealists. They expect too much from others in the first place. They want others to be always likable and have others always like them. Which, of course, is impossible. The disappointment hardens them into misanthropes.

That's why teenagers usually fluctuate between naive idealism and misanthropic angst. The two are two sides of the same coin.

If you don't expect anything from the start, you won't be so spiteful if people fail to conform to your standards, and you'll be more appreciative of those rare displays of goodness in humanity, where they can be found.
