Help with identifying anime series!!!!

Hi everyone I've been trying to find out the name of a series I used to watch as a kid but no luck so far. Here's my description of it.
The main guy wears a humanoid armor suit that has some sort of alien bug/critter in the headpiece.

I hope you seasoned anime fans can decipher this!

Vague much? A little more information would be helpful, what did the armor look like? Were there any bad guys? The more you can provide
would really help.

I'm kinda confused by a bug IN the head piece. But it wouldnt happen to be Guyver would it?

That's the first thing that popped in my head. But dang if that description ain't vague as heck.

No it's not guyver. The suit looks more like a gundam suit but not as big. It aired around 1998-9 on Fox Kids or a similar Sky kids channel. There may not be the bug part but I do remember the suited guy fighting against biological enemies/aliens, and slashing them with his blade/spear.

Are you sure it was an anime? It sounds like Masked Rider which was a live action show. The main character had a jewel in his forehead. I think it was a US revisted show like Power Rangers was Abba Rangers in Japan.
