For the sake of this thread actually being seeing and posted on, I posted it here. What is your opinion on programs like Auto-tune and Melodyne? Do you like it? Why?

People abuse auto-tune these days. It used to (and still does) have a purpose. I think most people don't even understand what auto-tune was originally created to do. That 'effect' the hip hop artist are making auto-tune produce... That's... That's not what auto-tune is for.

Eh, depends. There's no hard and fast rule that says auto tune = suck. It's just a soft and slow rule. Meaning some can slip around it if they are fast enough. But usually they aren't fast enough.

Time for me to post, I like it. Sometimes it gives a really good effect to music, I don't care if it sounds robotic as long as it sounds good. Melodyne is good too, it helps improve their pitch and such to fix an errors that people won't like (plus it makes VOCALOID a hell of a lot natural sounding). They're here to help us make better music though sometimes it is abused. @Jozette Loves Grell Did you know if you use Melodyne on a Japanese VOCALOID's "Engrish" (let's say KAITO) into English? Here's an example with Hatsune Miku and Megurine Luka.

I remember thinking to myself "why the hell is everyone doing this. Has the bar really gotten to be this low with pop music?". I think that maybe a year or so back it was at the height of being used too much and too obviously.
People seem to have gotten sick of it. There's even a Boondocks episode about it, lol. Haven't heard it being overused as much as before.

Auto-tune is less transparent when adding pitches, i.e. it makes that robotic effect that some people hate.
