I don't think the taxes levied on cigarettes are fair. If they do it there they should do it to alcohol. It destroys your liver. So what's the difference. Besides the fact it can cause people to do really stupid things. Pretty sure I've never heard of a smoker stripping naked and making an omelet in some stranger's house. This isn't the way to go about it. What they should do to reduce the risks of cancer is regulate the companies so they can't put all the chemicals in it that make it addicting in the first place. It's not just the nicotine that causes the addiction. Arsenic, Benzene, Cadmium, etc. also contribute to the chance of getting cancer. So regulating these chemicals out would do wonders. But, thanks to lobbying that wont ever happen. Gotta love de-regulation.
