End of an Elf-King

 

Kasumi_01 paced through the white halls in Rivendell, debating on whether or not he should leave this haven and accompany the Fellowship on their quest. He was an Elf-King, a chosen one of the three great rings of his fair kin. He was meant to remain in Rivendell to oversee the safety of his people, but he also had a duty to the Fellowship, whom he knew would need his ageless wisdom and advice.

'I have yet to see the Ring destroyed,' he said to himself as he gazed solemnly over towards the distant sun, which was grazing the horizon, throwing an cold golden glow over his city. 'I failed Middle Earth when I failed to force Isildur to cast The One Ring into the fire of Mount Doom, five thousand years ago. I must ensure the success of Frodo and his companions. But how should I do so...? Will my presence among the Fellowship be an advantage or a hindrance?'

The sun sank lower, and soon the golden glow became a morbid red.

'Kasumi!'

Kasumi turned, and found himself facing a throng of people. Elves, men, and dwarves; undoubtedly the friends and or distant relatives of those sent out on the expedition to destroy The Ring. 'My friends...'

'Enough! What good is an Elf-King who refuses to aid the Fellowship, the last hope for the free peoples of Middle Earth? You sent them away, perhaps to their doom!'

Before waiting to hear the Kasumi's response to this horrid accusation, the throng was upon him, quickly drawing the last breath out of the ancient lord. Only after his ageless body had grown cold, and the last light of the sun dripped beyond the horizon, did the people realize their fatal mistake.

Ok so I just got home from work and had the pleasure of reading the entire thread (a lil overwhelming to say the least). I'm so confused and disappointed that I missed out on quite a bit of the action... please don't hate me too much for my neglect! Also, I'd like to remind everyone: this is my first wolf! Yay! Sorry if I seem a tad clueless, for I am still trying to grasp all of the different concepts and whatnot. I will attempt to be more active, I promise.

Hindering The Enemy

 

By will of the Dark Lord, the Nazgûl rode hastily and tirelessly through the woods. Searching for either the great Ring or helpless prey; either would do. As the full moon reached the zenith, a flicker of light between some sparse branches made the black horses beneath them snort excitedly. The Black Rider at the head halted, hissing a command at the others to do the same. They then dismounted their steeds and flitted swiftly and silently forward, disturbing nary a twig or leaf on the ground.

As they approached the last dying embers of a fire, they saw the many sleeping bodies of the Fellowship. They watched, patiently, until one rose, looked at the fire, and carefully stepped over their comrades so as to gather some more kindling.

'Now...' they hissed quietly to each other in a tone that was beyond the hearing of mere mortals. They advanced, still making no noise as they tread, as if incorporeal, between the trees. The head Rider neared the figure first, not a yard away. Raising his Morgul-blade, he brought down the accursed sword with a swiftness unrivaled. However instead of making an impact with soft flesh, there was a metallic clang as blade struck blade.

'Not so fast,' Another figure said darkly, their face engulfed by shadow, unrecognizable. Without another word, he threw the Rider back with a wide swing of his sword. The person the Nazgûl had initially targeted spun around, dropping the bits of dried wood they had just bent down to pick up. They then dashed back to the camp, quickly arousing the rest of the Fellowship to alert them of this crisis. The Riders began to back away as each member of the Fellowship was awoken and they were severely outnumbered. With a rancorous chorus of hideous screeches, the wraiths seemed to fly back to their steeds, fleeing from the curses and weapons of the Fellowship.

Shaken but alive, the Fellowship returned to their camp after chasing away the Riders. They quickly packed, and headed out just as the sky began to brighten from a charcoal black to a steely gray.

I second Ribbons question @Scruffy , why the vote and run? No explanation or anything, which really doesnt help the town at all and just makes you look like youre hiding something........
