Kinda getting the hang of shading and muzzles in general. Gave up on (traditional) fur for the moment, and I have no idea how to do scales yet (on my to-do list). Anyway, tear these two apart for me. No holding back.

Okay, so you're getting into realism with fantasy. Here's funny catch with that, unlike drawing a face, or a hand, dragons dont exist for us to study their muscles and bones, etc. So, I cant really say these dragons are good or bad. In terms of drawing, the shading is great.
I think, a good way to go from here is study animals that kind of look like dragon and study their proportions and then use those as jumping off points for your own dragons. Study things like Crocodiles, dinosaurs, etc, stuff that look like what you want and just go from there.
These are looking great. Dragons are often created in very different ways depending on the artists interpretation. These seem quite mammalian in the fact that they have a very 'beast' like muzzle sort of like a dog, lion or wildebeest. This isn't a bad thing, Haku from Spirited away is probably the most well known example of this kind of dragon.
I would be interested to see a more lizard like dragon as well. Perhaps look at really close up pictures of Lizards' and snakes' faces and eyes to add some more reptilian features.
The first dragon I find personally to be much better than the second. This is because of the way you created the eyes. I feel like the second dragon doesn't have the 'life' in it's eyes like the first does. It sort of looks like a deep sea fish's eye. Perhaps with the addition of one or maybe 2 more light reflections in the eye it might seem more alive. The first's eye looks like it could portray a lot of emotion.
Your shading, especially on the horns, is fantastic and I love your use of armour across the nose/forehead of the first dragon.
Great work! =]

A little bit more information on dragons. (at least dragons from chinese folklore)
Typically they have the-
Claws of an eagle
Body of a snake
Horns of an Elk
And the face of a camel
I can't draw but that bit of info about dragons is shoved in my face nearly everyday. Couldn't hurt to pass along.
