Explorer Oak ~ Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's seed, that held its ground. Never give up!
my favorite FPS are
counter strike
battlefield
call of duty
half life 1&2
team fortress 2
left 4 dead 1&2
BLADE OR DIE!
Metroid Prime (Nintendo Gamecube) still remains my favourite "FPS" to this day. Even if the game is as much about platforming and puzzle-solving as shooting, I still hold it as a remarkable achievement in FPS and would easily put it up against the titles that effectively set benchmarks for the genre, including Doom, Quake, GoldenEye 007 and Halo.

My favorite FPS would have to be the Halo series(excluding odst). Master Chief is a beast. A super soldier who single handedly takes down an advanced alien civilization...Enough said.
Metroid Prime 1, 2, and 3 all day, urrday. Even though Wikipedia says it's a First-Person ADVENTURE GAME.
I would have to go with Cod franchise, Duke Nukem (both of them, Le Gasp!), Team Fortress 2, Counterstrike, Unreal Tournament, Quake, Doom, Golden Eye.
I remember to this day back when the AMD64 bit processor launched that I got a chance to go to the launch and beat the snot out of the Unreal tournament creators at their own game. It was magical.
My love for CoD as opposed to Battlefield is that I spawn in battlefield and die almost immediatly. The game is just way too, how do I say it, annoying. I don't know how to, and hate to, use flying controls, they've always been awkward and I will not get used to them. On top of that being sniped by an LMG across a map is Bullocks. CoD I can do the most rediculous stuff and still have fun. Ballistic Knives? Do it for an entire prestige and get a positive overall K with them at the end of the prestige. CoD allows me to have fun while still being somewhat serious.
Team Fortress 2 is just plain fun
Duke Nukem was the first FPS I played as a child. It was the best. I enjoy the new game because it's the old duke personality.
Doom is just fabulous, as well as Quake.
Counterstrike was the first Online FPS I played. Certain attachment to a game I sunk over 1k hours in.
And lastly, golden eye because it's golden eye.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. You've got a really dark and gritty Fallout-esque setting, and counter-strike like mechanics.
This is the stuff (the player is a bit of an noob*, but it's representative enough):
* He carries a bunch of guns he doesn't need (like, why would you lug around more than one AK-47?!), meaning he can't run; he's apparently sold his armor and runs around "naked" (?!); he doesn't use hotkeys for healing; and worst of all, he's spraying ridiculous amounts of ammo in the general direction of each target instead of aiming and shooting in bursts.

Hey look, Japan made a movie about me!
I just bought all three S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games on Steam for $10 during the sale. Can't wait to try them out. They seem like my kind of game.
I also got Unreal Tournament 2004, and after playing it a few hours it deserves mention in this thread. Forgot how much fun that game is.
Get some exercise this summer and raise money to fight disease. Find a free charity walk in your area:
AIDS Walk | Walk to Defeat ALS | Walk MS | Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Light The Night for Leukemia & Lymphona | Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis
Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat are very good, but Clear Sky was a bit meh.
Don't forget to mod them though. A nice bare minimum mod is Complete 2012.
Also, it's kinda really important to pay attention to the plot. They do not shove it down your throat like most other games.

The shooting games are very interesting game. I love to play mostly the shooting games like Call of Duty, Battlefield etc. The game which is my favorite is Call of Duty. This game is my one of the favorite game, where you can score the highest score by killing as many as enemies.
