My friend went away
Now I am hurtling
Flying into the fray
Half eaten tins of soup
Chili and cold oatmeal
Sit on the edge of my vision
Alone at the wheel

A satellite tossed out
Of orbit into the void
Forced to confront the stars
That I tried to avoid
My thoughts are a river
Over flowing the banks
About to receive a gift
But with no one to thank

I am free finally
But I miss you so much
Craving your gravity
The feel of your touch
But cascading sounds
Of silence move me now
You stand at the stern
And me at the prow
